Screen Sharing to Mac Pro

I am having an issue with screen sharing from my macbook to the mac pro.
the mac pro is not accepting my username and password, which I know for sure it is correct.
Anyway to reset the name / password or someone have a good tutorial setting this up?

Re: Screen Sharing to Mac Pro

1. Open "Keychain Access".    Run the Keychain First Aid.  try again.
2. On each mac, create a new user account.    Try connecting that way.  If it works, then we know there is a software problem and not  a hardware problem.

Re: Screen Sharing to Mac Pro

1) Is the username/password an admin user?
2) You do have screen sharing enabled in Sharing Preferences? (I only ask because I've forgotten this once or twice.)

Re: Screen Sharing to Mac Pro

Ok I have ran the Keychain First aid, also created new users on each machine with identical passwords.
I can control the macbook pro from the desktop.
I can not control the desktop from the macbook pro.
I setup each sharing preference identical on each machine.

Re: Screen Sharing to Mac Pro

I can connect and transfer files both ways, but screen sharing still doesn't work.
Setup VNC and it works fine with a vnc server running on the desktop.

Re: Screen Sharing to Mac Pro

Sounds like a software conflict for sure. If your settings are good and VNC works, the only other thing besides permissions would be if the two are on different versions of OS X? If they are both on 10.6.1 and it still is not working, you may want to try an archive and install on the desktop. If you're running 10.5, you may just want to bring both to 10.6.1.
