How to output entire directory to text file?
Hey guys, I have my data spread over approximately seven external hard drives and my laptop's internal drive (it's a crazy system and that's why I'm trying to organize it all now). I'm currently only home on weekends, and traveling as lightly as possible. Being that way, I'm wondering if there is a program that allows me to "explore" my external drives without actually needing them. This way I would know what files I have and where (and ideally all the meta data, like file size, data modified, date created, kind, et cetera), and I would be able to come home on weekends and immediately start transferring files to new drives without needing to take all the time to figure out what is where. I'll even settle for something as basic as a program that writes every folder and file name to a text file, but something where I could browse the drives as if they were connected would be ideal (of course, I wouldn't be able to open any files, but it visually navigating would be ideal). Thanks for any suggestions!

You could try the "tree" command.
Check "man tree" for more info.
The below will output user / group data along with size, permissions, etc.
tree -puhgDF

Search macupdate for disk cataloging software.
This one is good, but there are others:
