I am hungry
The chow hall doesn't have fish sticks. What should I eat?
Sometimes before replying to a topic, I think to myself: I am just so original!

Depending on what the tub was made from the lye could clean it ... 
or destroy it.
As a cleaner:

as a Paint Stripper:
A solution of sodium hydroxide in water was traditionally used as the most common paint stripper on wooden objects. Due to its caustic nature and the fact that it can damage the wood surface raising the grain and staining the color, its use has become less common.
... and remember kids. Keep it away from aluminum , magnesium, zinc (galvanized), tin, chromium, brass, and bronze.
