Uncharted 2, PS3 finally useful again?

Not being the biggest RPG fan my PS3 has had little to no use since MGS4

But Uncharted 2 I actually have pre-orded on Amazon

Batman Arkham Asylum I'm going to buy later

Assassin's creed 2 I might pre-order as well ($10 credit with preorder on amazon, coupled with $5 credit from U2 preorder, 15 off batman, yay?)

Anyone else got PS3 titles they're looking forward too

Of course I might hop on the L4D2 pre-order, most likely not though, I can't be buying any addicting games until after the semester, unless they are on deep sale.

But L4D2 for PS3 hasn't really been made official.

...and Valve has repeatedly spoken of the pain of developing for the PS3. At the least I'd expect a delay, with L4D2 being developed so fast on 360 and PC.

What?

Valve has been mentioning this for years. Source is not happy on the PS3. Not much is, but Kutaragi stuck the PS3 with Cell, and that's that.

I was mentioning L4D2 as an aside not meaning I was getting it for PS3 heh, and as I've said many times, not a fan of FPS on console, hence the third person adventure selection made

Well EA has been hinting at a L4D2 port like they did for Orange Box on the PS3.

Ahhh, Assassin's Creed. Surprisingly polarizing, that one.

Holding off on buying a PS3 Slim (planning on using it as a CD/DVD player as well) until GT5 and/or Kingdom Hearts comes out.  I'm hoping there's another price drop for the holiday season.

I dunno about Sony and price drops on that. NV has them over a barrel on the GPU in it. Might see one if the others cut also. Since PS3 is finally within reason, they might decide to keep it there for awhile.

Two price drops within a few months would be nearly unheard of. Maybe down the road, when the G71/RSX can be shifted to 40-45nm and yields raised.

Re: Uncharted 2, PS3 finally useful again?

Well, seeing as I bet the 160GB would be getting cleared out at Target for $350 anyways when the 250GB launches, I bit the bullet. Prolly get it sometime next week or the week after from Amazon.

Valkyria Chronicles just sitting at home just nagged at me enough. Well, overspent my b-day for myself this year. Guess i'll have to pick up another job over the holidays to make up. Either that or I start selling stuff on ebay. Oh well, i'll have a tiny paycheck waiting when I get back anyways from my last day on the job. Gotta rebuild my account now that i've splurged.

Guess this means Phenom upgrade gets put off awhile. Even more since I also picked up Heavenly Sword and Ninja Storm with it....sigh, I have the buyer's remorse and yet, somewhat glee lol. Now if Sega suddenly announces SoA for Wii only...i'm going to cry cry.

I paid $600 for my PS3, and it didn't come with crap.....       guess I should have listened when in economics we learned "money now is more later"

I'd sell it and get a new one since I assume the slims are much quieter/don't get as hot, but I do like playing The Warriors and Crazy Taxi now and then, oh and Intelligent Qube

Right now I'm motoring through all five of the DLC for Fallout 3 that just came out the last three weeks.

Then I may move on to Assassin's Creed 2 or Borderlands when they come out.

Being an original you'll prolly get decent $$$ for it. Folks still want those old ones with the PS2 support.

What's the price diff between what you could get and a new PS3 plus a PS2?

$400 would about be ps3 slim and ps2 slim, but that's more wires and equipment, and I doubt I could get even $300 for my ps3

Re: Uncharted 2, PS3 finally useful again?

Well my 160GB is up and running..kinda. Bought the wrong adapter for HDMI to DVI so i'll have to wait till next week for the new one to arrive to get to use it on my DVI monitor. Took awhile setting it up tho. The big 3.01 update took over and hour. Course Hudson was here sapping some of the bandwith.

I like the "free" aspect of the PSN. Haven't tried anything online yet. But it was pretty easy to navigate the menus since its the same as my PSP. But it is more complex than XBL. When comparing them, the XBL dashboard seems rather dumbed down. Heck theres even a printing option on the PS3...lol a console that can use a printer lol.

So far I like it. At $300 I can see Sony regaining lost ground in the console war rather quickly.

Amazing! The same exact thing happened to me. MGO was the reason I got a PS3, that & HD-DVD lost the format war. But yeah, Uncharted is the other game I love on the PS3. Haven't ordered the sequel yet but i do have the platinum trophy for drakes fortune. So you can imagine how psyched I am about the sequel.

Re: Uncharted 2, PS3 finally useful again?

Heh, another reason I wanted to order the old 160GB while I could. Uncharted was a nice bonus with it. Haven't gotten to it yet but I will. Trying to finish things one by one so i'll have to think about it after I get Valkyria done. Just got to building my squad and found the SoA characters they slipped in. Wish Aika was a sniper, and that there was more snipers. Oh well, it would be a bit overpowered if you could form a squad of all snipers early on.

Likely will be Ninja Storm next as Hudson already gave me a big hint he wanted me to pick up a 2nd controller for it today. "Hey my pal works at gamestop and can get controllers for almost half price."...heh

Re: Uncharted 2, PS3 finally useful again?

So, as to the game itself, freakin awesome so far.  I got home after an eleven hour shift at about 8pm and just wanted to relax for a two hours and eat dinner, hoping to be asleep by ten.  I pop in the game, grab some grub, and next thing I know it's 1am.  The game looks gorgeous, the controls never leave me confused, the story flows, as does the action, I'm just worried I might finish it too fast, this is definitely one of those rides you don't want to end.  The only problem so far has been a handful of times where the level detail actually left me mildly lost, it ook me a little time to figure out which way I'm supposed to be going, but at the same time it makes sense, if I'm stuck in some bombed out building or area, it's going to take me a little looking around to plan my route and spot what's going to let me proceed.  I haven't touched multiplayer yet and hear very good things about it from others who have tried.

As explained by one of the review sites (I think gametrailers) this is the game for if you wish they'd made a good Indiana Jones movie.

And much like MGS4 I'm blown away by the amount of detail and forethought.  Anytime I do get stuck (I chose to start on Hard) they have exactly what I need to keep me from making it a permanent situation, though the hint system isn't always helpful, half the time it's telling me what I already know.  Though something I noticed, don't know if it's a bug or intentional.  Sully can kill enemies when he shoots them, but it seems on the levels where I'm depending on either female heroin to help, they can unload 10+ bullets into a guy and he doesn't care.  No I don't want the AI doing all the work, but when I'm pinned down and watching  them keep getting shot over and over and not going down, just a bit annoying.

I have to decide if I actually want to buy Arkham Asylum and Assassins Creed 2 or just rent, I'm leaning rent since those I most likely will play once and move on.  Though it will all wait until much later since I barely have time for this game as it is heh.

As to PSN, I'm liking the UI less and less.  When it started it was similar, but much simpler, and less of a feel like a blog covered in advertisements.  There's also less and less things coming out worth downloading.  It's been a flood of non-free themes and wallpapers and add-ons for games.  And most of the demos have just been means of solidifying my plan to not purchase whatever game it's selling.

Another Sexaxis for SC4/Ninja Gaiden-type games? Yahtzee hasn't reviewed 2 yet, but all the ZPs seem to have had ENN 'ads' appended to them, like his look at the original (NSFW). Most of your games and Books' seem to have been singled out for average++ savaging (e.g. HAWX, Red Faction: Guerilla).

If it's anything close to 1, Croshaw won't find 2 to be anything close to 'freakin' awesome.' big_smile

Well I found out I can plug my PS2/PC Thrustmaster controller and the PS3 will recognize it and use it. Haven't tried in game yet but it might just work.
