Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.  Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."  They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

Some subjects actually enjoy pain, and withhold information they might otherwise have divulged in order to be punished.

Disgusting.
It's disgusting that a Medal of Honor recipient is so readily bribed.
It's disgusting that Congressional rules allow single members so much power.
It's somewhat hilarious that conservatives have been flipping out about a Democrat in the White House and a Democratic-controlled Congress.

And yet no one believes me when I say there isn't a dime's worth of difference between the two parties. They are one in the same, and largely serve the same masters. The talking point theatre may differ, but that's about it.

Hm, 30 Republican Senators vote against this amendment...
One Democratic Senator may water it down according to sources and in a way not yet specified.

Totally the same!

Look at the averages. I still say there isn't a whole heck of a lot of difference between the two parties beyond their rhetoric.

Ah, the comfortable warm shelter of equivalence.

Equivalence? Sure. They are all equally corrupt. Sure, the new ones might be a bit more straight-laced, but give it time, and they will be eating out of the hands of corporate lobbyists soon enough. Democrat, Republic - I don't care. They all are interested in reelection to the exclusion of practically anything else.

Gay rights
Abortion rights
Work place safety
Workers rights in general.
Health care
Environmental protections
Alternative energy

I could make a longer list if I wanted but you get the idea. Not the same. There is some overlap to be sure and both parties are corrupt as hell but that is the nature of our political system which allows contributions so large they amount to bribes.
Something I might point out that the right has no problems with but the left has tried to change.

Pariah, I agree with you in general, however in some of the issues you have indicated, the only difference between the parties is in rhetoric, not actual actions taken in the area.

Franken passes Defense appropriations amendment over 30 all-Republican no votes

None of the funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this [appropriations bill] may be used for any existing or new Federal contract if the contractor or a subcontractor at any tier requires that an employee or independent contractor, as a condition of employment, sign a contract that mandates that the employee or independent contractor performing work under the contract or subcontract resolve through arbitration any claim under title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 or any tort related to or arising out of sexual assault or harassment, including assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment, or negligent hiring, supervision, or retention.

Remember when a bunch of KBR guys gang raped a KBR employee and she couldn't sue because of an arbitration clause in her contract?
Republicans like that sort of thing happening, apparently.
