Airport Utility doesn't see AEBS

iMac 2.4 Ghz, OS 10.6.1 is connected directly to an AEBS, both purchased new in Sept 2007.

I've connected the iMac by ethernet to the Base Station and iMac connection to the internet appears normal.   However, my iPhone with OS 3.1.2  and the Airport Utility cannot see the Base Station.

I ran Yasu, but didn't reset home permissions nor prebinding.   I rebooted the AEBS.    Both had no effect.

The iPhone can see the iMac's Network as well as 2 other routers in the neighborbood.

So...   confused

Re: Airport Utility doesn't see AEBS

Is the airport broadcasting a unique connection ID?

Is there another connection on the same channel that could be interfering?

If those ideas don't do it, then I don't know what else it could be outside of firmware bugs.

AEBS light is amber.

1. How about I know that ?   I'm pretty much an Airport noob still
2. This shouldn't apply if the AEBS is connected via ethernet, as pertaining to the Airport Utility.

I'll ask ze goog later on.

Re: Airport Utility doesn't see AEBS

There is a post somewhere in these forums that described a Mac App that read all of the incoming WiFi signals, granted that the computer that was running it had its airport turned on.  It would tell you what signals it is picking up, and what frequency or channel it was on.  If you don't see your airport in that list, then it's only one of three possibilities: it's not broadcasting a WiFi signal, it's broadcasting a signal on a used channel, or it's just plain not working.

Since I don't have one of these to play with myself, I'm afraid that my answers are going to be limited.  I'm just troubleshooting it as if it were my own Linksys router at home.

Re: Airport Utility doesn't see AEBS

the iphone only supports .b and .g so make sure you have a 2.4Ghz network and not a 5Ghz

2.66Ghz QuadCore-Nehalem w/24"LED CD ---2.2Ghz BlackMB---15" 2.4Ghz MBP(work)
Dual 2.3Ghz G5 (4G Ram, 2x 250G HD)(10.5 server)--- 400Mhz G4 PM (10.4 Server)
1.5GHz Powerbook---1.6Ghz G5 iMac

Downloaded "Air Radar".     Nothing like an AEBS was seen.  I will try a reset later.
