Flash

Every time I load a flash video/game/annoying banner my laptop starts to get really hot. I do realize flash is pretty inefficient (as well as those printer drivers) and takes a lot out of my laptop, but I don't think my laptops fans are supposed to be going full bore for a simple youtube video.

I recently upgraded to 10.6, but I dont recall If I had this problem before the upgrade or not. My macbook is 2.16 GHz, 2 gigs of memory with the intel GMA 950 and more then 10 gigs of space left on the hard drive. Does anyone know why this could be happening, is it normal?

Thanks.

EDIT: I forgot to add that when I took my laptop in to Apple a while ago, they had concerns about the noise one of the fans was making. I'm not sure if that could have anything to do with it. My laptop does not overheat with anything else though, so I think the fan may still be ok.

Re: Flash

Normal as I've heard any where. There's another discussion on it here some place, and all of the anecdotal experience (mine included) is that it happens on all the Mac laptops. Explanation? Not sure.

Re: Flash

My MB pro has similar specs, I run a lot of video and my fans almost never kick in. I'm still on 10.4.11 though.

Re: Flash

Ah, but your macbook pro probably has a nvidia video card in it. That must be the bottle neck in my system with its puny GMA. It makes sense, although why it should get so hot is a mystery to me. If this is normal behavior Im not going to worry about it, it just makes youtube videos harder to hear.

Thanks.

Re: Flash

Yeah, normal for the MacBooks - YouTube and the fan is on high. The MacBook Pros have two fans, while the Macbook has the one. That single MacBook fan has to rotate faster (louder) to dissipate the heat.
