Orly Taitz: now poorer by $20,000
Birther lawyer Taitz slapped with $20,000 sanction
Shoot. I guess you guys want commentary. Hmm Let's see.

Will that do?
The court further directs the Clerk of this Court to send a copy of this order to the State Bar of California for whatever use it deems appropriate
Probably standard, but to this non lawyer, it sounds like a "coup de grace".

NO WAI!!!
I still believe in liberalism today as much as I ever did, but, oh, there was a happy time when I believed in liberals.

Within these forums is both a lawyer and an English Major™. Why is it that legalese and clear grammar hardly ever have anything to do with one another? Seriously, my wife and I are currently involved in a lawsuit and all of this legal copy gives me a headache.
There's what you love to do, and then there's what you get paid to do. Those two things are often different.

Perhaps I mistyped.

Perhaps you did, but it wasn't my intention to highlight a grammatical error. It was more an observation of how the court system espouses a complex vernacular which is not shared by the constituents which occasionally must face it. During our research (since we can't afford a lawyer), we've found numerous incidents where a person who has used reasonable language which wasn't in the same style as the courts was summarily judged against since their response was considered contemptuous.
Maybe, though, this post doesn't really belong in the thread. It's just my frustration.

Orly needs to be disbarred.

That's up to the state bar.

It took years for a disbarment hearing to take place and stick for Jack Thompson. And that's a guy would would send pornography to state officials for smurfs and giggles.
This would have a long way yet.

Well, now the court has a precedence to use, so the process for Taitz should be that much shorter.

Someone needs to take a fine toothed comb to her immigration papers.
Be a sweet irony if they were out of order and she ended up back in her native Moldova.

Perhaps a lighter touch. Martyrdom isn't what the movement needs.
