mac book help
First and for most i would like to say sorry if i have posted this in the wrong section but it seemed like it would fit here.
ok well theres some one in my town thats selling a mac book 2.2 but its having problems. im going to paste the description of the add under this
"I have a White Apple MacBook 2.2GHz, 1 Gig of Ram, and if I remember correct about a 114 Gig Hard Drive, but has an issue, it does not seem to want charge its battery and also will not start just using the charger. Yes the charger is not in good condition, but does seem to work OK on my friends MacBook, so I'm lost on why. With a charged battery, it boots and runs great, so I'm lost, if you know something about Apples and want to play with it, it should be a great deal."
from what he has told me it is a 2.2ghz intel processor and its a year and a half old and also told me this : "The Model Identifier says MacBook3,1 if interested, serial #W87471ZXZ63" if this helps out. im interested in buying this but to me for a laptop thats not fully working i dont think its worth 500 and i got to get it fixed after.
so heres my question is it worth getting it and fixing it or does it sound like its going to cost to much to fix and should ask him to lower the price. thanks in advance for any help and i really do appreciate the help.

Re: mac book help
Most white MacBooks require that the battery is installed to boot. You usually can't run them off of AC w/o the battery installed.
The battery may just be bad and need to be replaced. If the battery is old and run down, it won't charge.
Hopefully that's all it is and you'd be getting a good deal.
Note: It is possible that the logic board has an issue if the MacBook won't charge known good batteries, but as long as the book didn't suffer impact or a liquid spill, that would be rare.

Re: mac book help
I agree with all that Robert B Technician wrote, but since the seller is in your town you might ask to check the MagSafe socket on the MacBook itself. If the MagSafe power cord works properly with another MacBook, then it may be that one or more of the pins in the MacBook's socket is damaged. If so, then this may require the replacement of a(n expensive) board inside the MacBook and make it much less of a deal.
