Louisiana judge refuses to grant marriage license for mixed-race couple
"I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way," Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. "I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else."
Hear that, America? They use his bathroom.

What's the deal with racists having "piles" of black friends or homophobes having tons of gay friends

Just say "no homo" and it's all OK.
It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.

People in my small out-of-province home town have a strange habit of asking for "homo milk" at their convenience store. I wonder if the judge has that kind of convenience store available in his town.

But seriously, what a dumbass judge to not realize he's a racist. Smart enough to get through law school, too dumb to use a dictionary.

Probably because he isn't a judge that's been to law school. This guy is a justice of the peace.

Nice catch - there's a big difference between a judge and a JOP.
I knew a JOP once. Even slept in her daughters bedroom and used her bathroom.
She had a high school education, but that was good enough for the tiny country town in upstate New York where she lived.
Any real legal matters were out of her jurisdiction, but she could marry people.
And no, her daughter wasn't in the bedroom when I slept there, she made her daughter sleep in her sons bedroom. I don't know why she didn't make me sleep in her sons bedroom, except I was a college student and maybe she was looking to get me hot for her daughter. Small towns can be funny that way.

What a dick.
He fears for the well being of children of mixed marriages. They might one day grow up to be president.

There was a special on HBO recently about a HS that had their first “integrated” prom last year. There was still a whites-only prom though that some of the white kids still went to. There was no black-only prom.

Bardwell said he has discussed the topic with blacks and whites, along with witnessing some interracial marriages. He came to the conclusion that most of black society does not readily accept offspring of such relationships, and neither does white society, he said.
Society does, however, elect them to be President of the U.S.

They are accepted by black culture far better than they are accepted by white culture.
Sad but true.
And by sad, I mean sad that they aren't as accepted by white culture.

I don't think Phynonymous Deleaux was stereotyping.
There is a huge problem with anti-intellectualism among black youth. Those who attempt to succeed in school are ridiculed, bullied, and outcast for "acting white." It is a remarkably parallel situation to evangelical christianity, where those who attempt to embrace science and logic are ridiculed, bullied, and outcast for "acting liberal."
It is not stereotyping to make a statement about a culture that developed largely from white flight of the cities during integration. It's not black culture, it's ghetto culture. It is just more evident among black youth because thanks to white flight, more black youth are subjected to living in ghettos than white youth. The ghetto culture, like any culture, attempts to self-perpetuate. In order to do so, it needs a continuous influx of uneducated, angry people, who do not understand why they are there, just that they are there.
Anti-intellectualism is a serious pandemic in this country that is undermining the sustainability of a democratic process. The racism that allowed ghetto culture to breed must be addressed, and simply acknowledging it and saying "sorry, it won't happen again" is insufficient. The damage has been done and it must be proactively repaired.
