Fahrenheit 3:11

CANTON, N.C. — A North Carolina pastor says his church plans to burn Bibles and books by Christian authors on Halloween to light a fire under true believers.

Pastor Marc Grizzard told Asheville TV station WLOS that the King James version of the Bible is the only one his small western North Carolina church follows. He says all other versions, such as the Living Bible, are "satanic" and "perversions" of God's word.

On Halloween night, Grizzard and the 14 members of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church also will burn music and books by Christian authors, such as Billy Graham and Rick Warren.

Telephone calls to the Amazing Grace Baptist Church and Grizzard's home were not immediately returned Wednesday.

“[We will be burning] books by a lot of different authors who we consider heretics, such as Billy Graham, Rick Warren… the list goes on and on,” Pastor Grizzard told reporters.
...
The book-burning is hoped to be a social event, with a barbecue laid on for attendees. It is not clear whether the meat will be grilled over the heat of burning Gospels.

Wow... The UK's Telegraph is running a story on what a 14 member church in South Carolina does.

Does Britain not have any news to report any more?

Christians burning Bibles is funny to me.

Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.  Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."  They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

Re: Fahrenheit 3:11

Even after all of my posts stating that the bible is just a book, I'm staunchly against the idea of burning any book, regardless of it's content.  It's censorship, not to mention the smoke will make you smell like Hitler.

Grilling meat over burning books?

Yeah, that'll solve the problem right there. I hope they like toxins.

Oh wait, it could be construed that the toxins emerged from The Perverted Word of God rather than the materials that they're printed on that they shouldn't be burning for any purpose anyway.

A quandary!

Burnings happen all the time around here for "rededicating or new Christians", but they're always of the secular nature. Harry Potter. Jay and Silent Bob movies. Rick Astley CDs. Never Bibles.

Have Rick Warren and Billy Graham really written their own bibles?

That actually strikes me as absurdly blasphemous.

The Billy Graham Bible is a NKJV Bible with Billy Graham's notes in it.

You'll pull a copy of twilight from a teen girl to throw into a bonfire when you pull it from her cold dead fingers.
