It's not for the kids not going to school in the dark.

It's to save energy. Lights don't need to be on if the sun is up. (ok, I really don't know, but I think that's the reason for it)

Hey mackerm, why don't you move to Puerto Rico, we have beautiful beaches, busy highways, busier metro area, a lot of tourist atractions, a warm climate and best of all no daylights savings time.

Time is a concept.

I think most school districts try to start school before the typical 9:00am workday, so most parents can see their kids off to school.

I never understood people's hostility to daylight savings time. The anger is more widespread that I ever thought.

I don't like it either way because it messes with my sleep schedule.

What is more fundamental than time itself? Would it be OK for the government to decree that from November to February the gallon is 3.5 quarts in order to offset fuel costs? I cry bullsmurf!

So we don't want kids to walk to school in the dark. We all like kids. So how's this for a solution: start school later! I didn't much like school anyway. Some History classes were good. Some of the science too. And Band was a nice way to accumulate credits.

Come to think of it, we had to get to school an hour before regular school started for Marching Band practice. Where was the outrage then? No pity for the poor band members walking to school before dawn? Freakin' hypocrites. Hope the drum section didn't wake you up.

No-get it straight. 
DST is awesome.  -It is standard time that sucks. 

And this thread is too early.  justine is supposed to remind us to change our clocks and then everyone bitches about standard time. 
Now the clocks and the forum are both out of whack.

meh, who needs a watch for it, the rice and the cows dam sure don't change their schedules.

Cows know when its milking time.  You know when it gets to be 4:30 because you start to see the cows lining up by the barn door and they start getting cranky if you aren't out there by 5 to let them in.  You know its lunch time when you start getting hungry (good for those cloudy days).  Supper gets eaten after the cows are tucked in for the night.

Did somebody mention railroad times?
