Using an old time machine drive

what if you do not have a sparsebundle file to click on since original time machine drive was done on an actual drive not the network. How then can you access after you have put a new time machine drive on it.

Re: Using an old time machine drive

Moving to Everyday Tech (Tech Support forum) from MacLife Readers (Magazine related topic.)

As far as the question... I've never used time machine, so I have no idea.

Is it possible to reattach the old Time Machine drive? Even temporarily?

Re: Using an old time machine drive

surely someone has used up the capacity on their original Time Machine drive and needs to put a new bigger one on and has found a way to access and use the old drive on Time Machine too (anyone) Their was actually a fix for this listed in the last issue of Maclife but it was very vague relating to a sparsebundle file and there is no sparsebundle file

Re: Using an old time machine drive

This really belongs in MacLife readers because it relates to the fix for this in the most recent MacLife magazine article
? is how to access and use an old original Time Machine drive to restore after you have installed a new bigger Time Machine drive. Article in MacLife is very vague referring to a sparsebundle file and there is no sparsebundle file.
