Preview and searching PDFs

I am looking at the course catalogues of some local schools and when they come up in Safari, I right-click and select "Open in Preview." From there, I like to search the text of the PDF within Preview. I noticed that if I actually save the file to my hard drive, though, any time I do a search on said file it will come back with zero results. If I go back to Safari and invoke the opening of the PDF file by selecting "Open in Preview," the file is searchable despite it not technically being a saved file (I should say that for all intents and purposes, Preview opens up the PDF from its location in my web cache, but it makes no difference as the title bar has no Preview icon to the left of the title, as all saved documents should). Any ideas what's going on here? I want to save the files locally on my computer (I often research when I don't have an available internet connection)—any thoughts? Thanks!

Re: Preview and searching PDFs

I offer only heresy here. Download Adobe Reader. It will work as you want.
