How's that MW2 Release Looking?

Mmmmmmm, not so hot! I've got to DL the show MP3 & listen still but if the bullet points are accurate (I didn't even know the console torrent was circulating so widely) is this shaping up to be a monumental disaster of a release? Back In June, when they hired TBWA to "biggest entertainment launch of all time" d'you think they had in mind a total meltdown? I know, supposedly any press is good press and maybe even more so in the video game industry but this is starting to turn into the makings of a whole ton of lost revenue.

Oh... this isn't about MechWarrior2.

I'm not paying for it. I'm playing through the single player on 360 right now, and unless they add dedicated server and mod support back to the PC they won't see a cent of my money.

Hope you dont connect to Live with that Three-Sixty... otherwise your console could end up banned.

Yeah, they'll ban the hell out of you. Why risk it over such a lousy title?

smurf game, smurf publisher, developer is populated by 14 year old homophobes, they're influencing MS policies (party chat), they're smurfing over the PC users left and right...

These people don't deserve our money. They're smurfing leeches to the industry.

Re: How's that MW2 Release Looking?

I actually liked the singleplayer in CoD4, played through it several times. However I found that the sequel seemed rushed, the missions didn't have the same level of immersion, the story seemed fragmented, and I just didn't have as much fun.

I'll probably also pirate the PC version and play through the SP campaign on a better platform.

My Xbox doesn't have an internet connection atm, and I definitely won't be connection it until after the official release date.

It's pretty much impossible to get banned for modding an xbox these days unless you play dodgy rips or go online before the release dates of games. Playing your own stealth rips is pretty safe.

Re: How's that MW2 Release Looking?

Don't get this thread locked by openly bragging about piracy, m'kay? The only thing that will accomplish will be to give IW a reason to blame bad sales on rampant torrenting, which is a smoke screen for their own incompetence.

And the difference between CoD4 & the abysmal World at War came from 2 different developers, nothing more. I won't buy (or steal) MW2 strictly on principle, even if I hear from other PC players that it's the best smurfing title since Doom. I can live without it, L4D2 is a few week away & that's all I need.

Re: How's that MW2 Release Looking?

I think MW2 will end up as Game of the Year.  Why?  Because in spite of all this nonsense, they make a solid game with long lasting appeal.  CoD4 is still one of the top games on XBL after almost 2 years.  And I never play with screaming 14 year olds... other than on the opposite team and they are easy enough to mute between games.

Glad i'm not the only one who thought that lol.

Heh, i'm the opposite. Thought the SP in CoD4 was rather poor. To me I thought it really didn't play as well as people had hyped. Bad Company seemed better even if it was a lil silly shrug. Wasn't going to bother with World at War. Just seemed like another same ole same ole WWII title.

I swear, it's every time I glance at the title.

Re: How's that MW2 Release Looking?

Well guess what, Hacks are already out for the PC version of MW2, and without admins to ban people, if you get matched with a hacker you have no choice but to play with him or get penalized for leaving early.

I'd post the youtube video, but Activision abused the DMCA because they did not like what it showed.

Re: How's that MW2 Release Looking?

That MW2 release is looking pretty sweet for Activision, because it's now the #1 entertainment release in history: 5 million copies sold in one day.

I can't wait to see the NPD numbers for November, they're going to be ridiculous

Shock shock.

Maybe you can get a particular personal army to post it over and over.

Re: How's that MW2 Release Looking?

While the campaign is a relatively short six- to eight-hour adventure, many gamers are buying Modern Warfare 2 for its multiplayer offerings, including a new cooperative mode called Spec-Ops, a series of varied missions that keep things fresh.

Toronto Star

So, if you already know that you'll be dissatisfied with multiplayer action, there's little point in getting the game.
