I'm sorry, but I don't follow football. I'm happy for you, though.

You know, it's an older joke, but you caught me off guard with that one.  LOL

I hate all sports.

Baseball, though, is especially boring. It's excruciating to just sit there for hours and hours, waiting for anything to happen. And then when something finally does occur, like maybe somebody hitting a touchdown, everybody goes crazy, 'cause they're so starved for any kind of action.

It's just like watching a Grateful Dead concert.

Re: The Yankees WIN

You're not really waiting for something to happen, you're watching Andy pitch a gem, or an amazing play like Damon's double steal, or Matsui coming through in the clutch, etc...  Having quality at-bats, working the count and wearing down the starter is what it's all about.  Home-runs are fine, but I think most fans would much rather watch a pitching duel than a home-run derby.  (I'm not trying to change your mind, just trying to explain what other people get excited about).

As for the greatful dead comment, I'm at a loss for words....

Re: The Yankees WIN

I can usually only stand baseball if I'm actually at the ballpark. I can't plant my ass in front of the TV and watch for hours. Football is especially mind-numbing. Why it takes three hours to play a one-hour game is beyond me.

But sports stars are way overpaid. Then again, so are star actors and musicians. Taking a family to a sporting event is very expensive. Movies aren't much better. But we are capitalists (well, corporatists) and so the only way to see lower prices is if people stop paying them. Unfortunately there are way too many people with more money than sense.

It is an odd thing, but every one who disappears is said to be seen at San Francisco. It must be a delightful city, and possess all the attractions of the next world.

At least it's not NASCAR.

"And they're off!"

smurf of laps later...

"And they're headin' round turn 2 agin... this is it, final lap. #34 and 52 are battlign for the lead. Round the final turn to the finish–AND 34 WINS!"

Re: The Yankees WIN

At least you get to occasionally watch very expensive, hand-built race cars disintegrate while spinning in circles and flipping end-over-end!

In true Pariah style, fixed that for ya.

This is why I prefer F1 and Indy (more the latter than the former).  Less cautions, more racing, loads more right turns.

I thought the Luge was the biggest pseudosport ever invented. As Seinfeld said, you can get anybody in there holding on for dear life and it would be exactly the same.
