Re: Character Classes

I'm an orcer, so to NE I say play them if you liek cheese.  They are a good race but, and this is a fact, most nE players do use cheese.  UD is gret if you like to piss ppl off cause they can counter anything.  Humans have the best casters and are a tad imbalanced.  Orcs take a smurf load of micro due to having only one auto-cast besides repair.  And they have pretty much no anit air besides towers.  But if you can learn to win with em then your a good player period.  Though I would say NE are good for starters, moonwells heal you anytime, and they jsut seem relaxing to play.  I play UD and Orc, started with Ne, then tried HU.  Playing NE and orc gets your adrenaline going with their voices.  When  first played UD I got creeped out just using ghouls.  I slowly got accustomed to the sounds of commanding an army of corpses though.  With NE they have soothing backgorund music and a relaxing voice.  Excpet that priestess of the moon, she pisses me off with her "I shoudl be commanding the army not you" attitude, but it's all fake right........ right?  wink

Re: Character Classes

I think that you should play the single player mode all the way through, figure out which race "suits" you the best and then try it out on bnet. Or, you could create a "practice" account and play random to get a feel for all the races. BTW those Night Elves dominate Orc ass... wink

Re: Character Classes

I can guess from your reply in the beta thread that you are a good NE player, but you must admit, there are people who use NE to make a five cheese pizza if they can.  As is true for all races.  I just see it more often with NE, proly cuz lately there's more NE players.  neutral

Uh, well I guess I am a pretty decent NE player, but what the smurf does the five cheese pizza mean? That is all I was trying to ask. :?:

Re: Character Classes

cheese in blizzard games usually means you play cheaply, such as massing somehtign liek dryads and doing NOTHING else, not even upgrade em.  Or per say a hero harass that has been doe by every NewB, such as blizzard and run.   Just simple, annoying, and usually brain dead strategies that just ahppen to work half the time.  Like mass necros.  Thankfully though, atleast in Beta, they are killing this quickly as I am sure you have noticed.  For example the bug with tomes or the bug with naga sea witch.  It's the idea of using somehting perhaps blizzard din't think about that should be balanced.  Hard to explain really, but with orcs it's the worst insult you could recieve from one, or to each other.  Orc have no cheese excpet perhaps mass casters, which si suicide in classic 1v1 and suicide period in beta.

There are plenty of "cheese" stragities for all the races I think. You referred to hero  rushing as a cheap tactic that works half the time. Hero rushing is part of a good game plan; it keeps your opponents on their toes and while they are spending time, resources, and micro to defeating your hero rush, they cannot focus on their original plan. Which in turn gives you (and your allies) an advantage to get your stragities going faster without interuption. Orcs in my opinion are the best with this. I cannot tell you how many times I have had Blademasters, and Farseer's run into my base and start killing whisps before I even have a hero.

Thankfully though, atleast in Beta, they are killing this quickly as I am sure you have noticed.

I think that mass casters for everyrace (exluding NE because they have no cheap auto cast or mass caster tactics) should be made so that it loses EVERY time. In beta they are making this more so by giving every race anti caster units, which is nice but mass casters still can do a bit of damage in the beta.

I dont really play that much 1v1, but from what I have played, I really dont see people go "cheese" tactics that often. Usually people play with a well balanced group of units. I am glad that they are trying to get rid of that mass caster trash. I think that probably nothing pisses me off more when Im playing against someone or a team  that goes mass casters. This is probably due to the fact that nothing short of 4 full teams of dryads could ever possibly beat it....

Also on a side note, take a look at some replays of high level orc players in 1v1 games... I am talking >lev 30; you will be amazed at how they go almost nothing except for... casters, and oh casters, and dont forget those casters. There are exceptions, the tauren plans and the wayv stragities but in general EVERY GOOD orc player goes casters. Whether this means solo or just in a team game, they almost always go casters.

Boy... this is great, just having open discussion about such a great game, we should have more threds like this. smile

Re: Character Classes

When I said "caster" I ment it as being, for example: troll witch docters, shamens, priests, sorceress', necromancers, banchees, you know anything along those lines. Those all (exluding docs) have auto cast spells that when used in mass are really kinda cheap.

Mass Farie Dragons... I hate those things, they are the anti-caster caster unit.  I web them, and BAM phase shift, then I can hit them, web, phase shift, cant hit, etc.  It takes so freakin long to kill em because they go "invisible" and you cant hit the sombitches cause phase shift is auto.

Re: Character Classes

with the orc high lvl plyers do you mwean mass casters or alot of casters and some grunts or somehting, cuz as I see it in classic casters alone are to weak, excpet vs like tauren or air cuz of heavy armor.and yes beta is getting good with using more htan one unit.  With I orc I find all three casters, meaning 6 shamans, 2 docs for wards, and 4 spirit walkers with the SHadow hunter works perfectly.  THough I mean it fits to gether with my  tuaren, tauren chieftan, 6 berserk grunt army.  With spirit walkers I can just wait for my taurens to die, usually I wait for two so it's not awaste, and revive em.  Healing wards take care of grunts, and shadow hunter heals casters.
