Actually, a toilet doesn't. 

Don't want to burst your balloon, but a toilet has really really bad feng shui.  Flowing water is considered unlucky (because it will just sweep all the luck out of your house).  People who practice traditional feng shui never have a toilet on the second floor because if you are under the toilet when it's flushed, it will sweep your luck away. 

This feng shui bullitein brough to you by someone who had to sit through an hour of feng shui discussion.   

I attended a women's seminar a couple months ago (late January).  There were two classes to chose from for the last hour, it was either "Feng Shui" or "How to present yourself as a woman on the way up".

I went to the feng shui class.  The woman who taught it was pretty good at feng shui, but I'm not sure that I buy that a piece of red paper sitting in a place you can't see it would improve your energy.    Some of the color and placement theory (the stuff you can actually see) I do think is pretty intelligent.

It's neat stuff.  I'd like to learn more just because I think it's good design principles.

I just happened to remember that bit about the toilet because the woman gave the example of chinese executives refusing an office that was underneath a bathroom. 

I like to pee outside.  I like open air privies (the kind without the house) and i think redworm privies are plane old cool.  They have worms to eat your poop! the only downside is you can't pee in them.

Not being able to pee when you pooped would really really suck. I guess I could divert the stream, but I don't know how I'd manage that without the ol' blue-veined junket pumper.

I wouldnt complain about toilets..my parents lived in the middleeast and many parts of europe and i remeber them telling me that some middleeastern countries (cant recall which ones, ill get back to you guys on that) have simply holes in the ground between buildings and such where you squat and smurf, no toilet paper or anything. personaly, sitting on something at least and being able to whipe your ass seems more pleasnt then squatting in a hole. Another piece of evidence of how spoiled westerners are....sheesh 

in some public restrooms in Japan they have the hole in the ground, with porcelain "funnel" and everything.

true bliss.... walk off the trail, dig a hole, take care of business, cover up the hole and walk back to the trail.


and i must restate that red-worm piviys are the coolest.  they have worms to eat your poop! (just remember to toss that handful of leaves in with it.

Not always.  I worked on a ship that had a vacuum sewage system.  In order to clean down the pipes, we had to pressurize it.

When it was pressurized you were supposed to shut the valves to the rest of the ship, preventing fountains.

The radioman one day visited the toilet when someone was cleaning it, having forgotten to shut the valves.  He was on the receiving end of a 20psi raw sewage enema.

Well, apple can make a better version of it. No electronics, though - that's stupid. merely an elegant toilet that does its function better than any other toilet on the market, and comes with an easter egg somewhere (Ie. flush three times and remove 6 squares of toilet paper, and you get to see a picture of the iPDA).

I think the perfect device is what they have on the ISS and the Space Shuttle. No water whatsoever, and it works fine. The only problem is the cost.
