PowerMac 6500 & iTunes
I'm sure this is an old problem for some, but I can't get my PowerMac 6500 (OS9.1, 300 mhz) to recognize my external Iomega CD-R when I try to burn through iTunes or Toast. THe problem seems to be the PCI USB card that I installed, which is not built-in and not recognized by the Authoring Support software. Any suggestions on how to work through this and be able to burn CDs with my PowerMac?
Thanks

Probably no help. But did you load whatever drivers are required? Does the card show in System Profiler? Is you drive supported by Itunes?
Just a few things to consider, or I could be waaaaay off. Either hope it helps.

it was my understanding (could be TOTALLY wrong here) that both iTunes & iDvd/DVDPlayer are restricted to internal apple drives only, due to driver support issues, again I could be totally wrong

You are correct there. I thought iTunes would support USB and Firewire drives tho, but that maybe an OS X feature. Still doesn't solve why Toast is having problems. I know that the Apple's burning ext. and Toast's burning ext. conflict. You can only have one or the other. I also know that my USB combo card in my Beige G3 needed an update from Apple, in order to work. It was like USB 1.2 (USB 1.0 is in default install of 9.2.2) or something like that.

Yeah, My 4 port usb card I added to my Mom & Dads 6500 had to have that update as well. Fortunately, the url address was in the installation instructions for the card. If you need it, i'll look it up tonite when I get home. -mike

Well i have a Mitsumi CR-480 4TE external USB CD-RW (4x) that i used with my old 333mhz iMac, and after working relaly hard one time, i got iTunes to see the drive and burn with it. Havn't had any luck now though. I can't remember what I did, but it worked for a while. I wish it would now, cause i wanna give it to my sister. oh well.

Re: PowerMac 6500 & iTunes
Figured out the problem. ITunes and Toast do not mix. I removed all iTunes software and extensions and the problem was solved. Toast works great. However, now that the audio data is on the disc, I can't get anything -- my Mac, car stereo, home stereo -- to play the discs. They simply don't see them or can't read them. Any suggestions?

We had that problem solved a week ago.
Dumb ?. Did you pick the right format to burn? Did you burn a data cd or an audio cd? I know in Toast, data format comes up as the default. Audio file drag and drop works in the current version. I don't know if this has always been the case.
