What is the Best Computer Backpack?

I just got the new 1Ghz Powerbook and have to take it with me just about every place I go (school, work, the library, my sisters place...). So I am looking for a bag that can protect my new investment and also carry some of the other daily things I used to just toss in my backpack. I have been using the Targus bag that came with my purchase but I prefer backpacks (they seem not to bounce around as much when walking). I saw one bag made by trekkerusa that looked pretty good and would appreciate any opinions on theirs or others. The things that I want it to be able to carry all at one time are:

Powerbook
Cell Phone
PDA
Digital Camera
MiniDV Camera
Ipod
Extra PB Battery
DV Tapes/ Media Cards
Pen/ Pencil
CD's
Power Adaptor & Cords
Water Bottle
MacAddict Magazine

Hey If it Can all fit in the Targus Bag it should be able to fit into a protective backpack.

Check out Belkin's site. They have some really nice backpacks, last I checked.

My recommendation is an Oakely backpack (yes, they make backpacks, not just shades).  www.oakley.com

Its one of the few backpacks that does justice to the mac industrial design.  The catch is that you'll need a sleeve to throw your 'book in and protect it from scratches.  A $30 neoprene sleeve provides sufficient padding.

Re: What is the Best Computer Backpack?

I just bought a powerbook and with it I ordered the Brenthaven titanum 2 backpack.  The Backpack is great except for the price, $179.  It comes with its own pull out protective sleave which fits securely in the rear compartment.  Everything you mention will fit in the bag nicely with most of the items having their own compartments plus there are a lot off accesorry pockets for all of your cables ect.  I ordered the bag so i could take the powerbook with me to class without haveing to have some dorking computer bag along with my regular backpack, should do the job nicely.  Even considering the price i was surprised at how nice the bag was put together and how Brenthaven seemed to think of everything.

The large Tumi backpack with Tumi's notebook sleeve (TiBook fits in the sleeve perfectly).

Re: What is the Best Computer Backpack?

For some really nice back packs, or a bag that is designed to take a back pack harness attachement check out Tenba. They have made high end stuff for carrying cameras and computers for years.

I have used one of their attache type bags with a computer insert and knapsack attachement for years and travel all the time with it. Works great. They also I believe make a knapsack type bag as well.

Stuff is bullet proof.

I use a form fitting polypro like case and put that in my ALICE pack. Works great.
