Re: Tourny Time Preferances
Ok we are having some time conflicts.
Chris has suggested moving the tourney up to mid-May because he will be without the net in early June. Right?
I won;t be able to connect to BNET from my gaming rig until end of June. So Wang and I haven't even been able to practice, not that Sac Attack needs any.
What is best for you guys. IF the rest of you want to do it soon, I could just sit out and get in another time. I was thinking for the next one we could randomly pick teams from people who want to play and other variations to keep the fun going.

perhaps we should wait for expansion? oh and if you guys want it go to gogamer.com, it's prolly gonna be like top 3 cheapest for expansion, and alot of other games too.

Re: Tourny Time Preferances
Uh I actually can play now untill June 15th I belive. I vote a very large...
NO!
for the waiting for FT to come out. It will take me probably 3 months to re-learn all the stuff. If you guys would like to start the tourny now it would be fine with Aqua and I. I think late entries should be accepted if we start early.
Soooo....
I will volunter Aqua and I, The Kung Foo Wizards, to take the first match. Any challenger team is fine. After the match I will email Wang/Groid my replay and I will also start a new thred showing results/scores.
Sound good?

Re: Tourny Time Preferances
Well... There are plenty of people (I think) that dont have partners yet. You should read this thread from the beginning, and also check This Thred for the team information. Basicly everyone is avalible except the people in the above link. Also I belive Groid said somewhere that this is a Clan MA event only.
You know one of you guys that has no team mate should make a new thred for finding other Clan MA people who dont have team mates.
Also checking back in to the forums everyonce and a while could help get rid of you being late...

Re: Tourny Time Preferances

You have to be joking me. The Crucible for 2v2?!

Well, if you want my opinion...
I think it should be one of 2 options:
Option 1: the maps are decided by both teams together, and if no one likes any maps the other likes, it will go back to (shudder) Crucible.
Option 2: At least one of the maps played should be The Lost Temple. That is a Standred 2v2 map. Another should be Stromguarde, which is also another highly played 2v2 map. And then if it goes the the third round both teams will decide together.
But please, dont make us play the cruc for every game. With veried maps comes varied plans. So it would be good to have a varity, so that if one plan fails you can try a different plan on a larger/smaller map.

Re: Tourny Time Preferances
Ok...after thinking.....sounds good.
Here is the OFFICIAL maplist:
1st map is Lost Temple
2nd map is Stormguard
3rd map if neccessary will be Crucible
I don't really care the order you play the first two maps in, but the 3rd map will allways be Crucible.
Make sure the settings are normal settings that we usually play at and send me a saved replay from each team.

Re: Tourny Time Preferances
I need a team mate... by the sounds of it... I am very, very rusty, due to the fact I have sworn off of MA, games etc, for the past 2 months, due to a project I'm working on.
I am "rusty" but I use to be quite good. Orc, Elf, Undead, and Humans, I have played them all, I am pretty good at Elf, and Undead though.
I use to play 3 vs 2 (three humans 2 bots)
As long as the schedule isn't too odd, and too off the wall, I should be able to make it... Tue and Thur from 7:30 on I can't make it. Sat I can play all day except from 6:00 to 10:30 after that I'm free. (I have prior obligations for at least another week...
I am still not officially back, but drop me a line and I'll respond if anyone still needs a team mate...

Cyberpawz and jhota wanna team up?
Sure although I would expect some rules before we set into the game... even though this is a touney... we have something more or less of a time scale we can play with?
I mean some characters can overwhelm you with just 2 minutes of play... (the undead)

like lost temple, like strom.....but crucible being the only choice for the third......
why not have two extremes to randomly choose from....really small 2v2 and cruc. RAND in an excel spreadsheet for the number of days this may take. and post here the day of the match what the final map will be.
letting each pair of teams decide on a different map list for every match, will not allow for a level playing field where everyone can match wits rather than just map familiarity.

Well... it really depends on how good you are. If you know what you are doing and have good micro skills then you should be able to beat back an early onslaught.

CyberpawzWell... it really depends on how good you are. If you know what you are doing and have good micro skills then you should be able to beat back an early onslaught.
Actually even with micromanaging, which i use to be very, very good at, the undead can swarm over any opponent in less than 5 minutes...all they need to do is create more workers, and they can pump out enough of a large fighting force to overwhelm anyone...
the Undead are *ahem* deadly because of their initial attack and growth capabilities...
The humans are good at defense, but the undead are initially better due to the fact that their own "houses" attack anyone within range...
You work with what you got, but overall, for speed, Undead, for Defense Humans, for Magic, elves, from brute strength, and some good def, Orcs (although they are the slowest, to create, and the most to upkeep)
There are too many variables, although I can guarantee the first few times I will probably loose in a tourney, we need to set down some guidelines...to have a decent "handicap" for those who are not great players...

I thought that the idea of a tourny was to show off our skills... Really, if you think that you will do this badly, then why play? I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I just dont understand.
This is my personal opinion but, I think Aqua is right about the micro'in.
Example: I was playing one time with my cousin. We were both NE and we were playing 2v2 random ladder. We were up against a duel ud team.
Now of course they mass ghoul duel aura rushed. And wouldnt you know it, I was the lucky one who got attacked.
Because of the way I placed my buildings, when my cousin warped in we not only beat back the rush with just a few hunts a piece, 2 dh's and an archer or 2, then we counter attacked and won the game.
On the same token; A friend and I play duel ud sometimes for fun. If there is ever an elf we always duel aura rush them. We have been beaten back a ton of times.
Now, I'm not the best player in the world but I can do a pretty decent rush. So it really is all up to micromanagement of your units. That will decide every battle. If you want I have a replay I could send you of a guy named Cicel who plays NE. He is the best micro'er I have ever seen. In the replay he beats back mass ghouls 1v1 with about a 1/4 of the units. His heros are lower level too.
Anyways, it is just my opinion and you have yours, but I think that the idea of a 2v2 tourny was so that people couldnt go, "Aww, he is soooo much better than me... It was unfair...." Because it is 2v2 you will have to rely on your partner, and work together to win.

When I use to play I was always playing online, me against 2 bots, so I know I could kick the crap out of people on average, it's been a while, but with a little brush up I'm sure I could do the same thing...
My issue is this, I know what it is like loosing all the time too...there are some players which are just virtually unstopable...and some that are born to loose...lol...
Not that I mind, and I am willing to give a chance to see how good I really am, but the issue with me is that most tourneys I have been in, or competitions in general for WCIII have had some form of guidelines...
ie: no rush, or no rush till after 3 min time limit, etc to give those who are average players to at least have a semi chance.
Every tournament I have ever been in, RL or online, has always had guidelines... as in JK:II one tourney was a no kick tourney... and no real powers, you relied on your saber. different game different rules I know, but you get the gyst of what I am staying I hope.
