Is there a decent picture viewer out there?

I've just got my new powerbook! Finally!

I need a picture viewer for mac that allows me to scroll through images. Kinda like ACDsee, but for macOS10.2.4+

Any ideas?

Re: Is there a decent picture viewer out there?

I've been using Imageviewer for years. Has alot of neat options as far as creating previews & custom icons, as well as different browsing styles. Sometimes gets bogged down w/ large or Hi-Rez images, but nothing too major. Give it a shot.

Re: Is there a decent picture viewer out there?

Have you tried GraphicConverter? It has lots of neato features for good price... I think it has an option to "browse directory" or something...

That was going to be my suggestion.  It's good enough to be the only shareware that I have ever paid for.  Then again, it's also the only shareware that I have continued to use.  wink  I've been a registered user of Graphic Converter since 1992.

Check it out.  smile

I"ve heard good things about iView. It's strictly a viewer.

Graphic Converter came pre-registered on my PowerBook 667 (rev B). Look around your Applications folder, it could be hanging out there.

Hey, that's right!  Apple has been bundling it with the new systems!  You may (and probably do) already have it!

Re: Is there a decent picture viewer out there?

iPhoto is not well suited for quickly flipping through a bunch of pictures. You have to import, etc... With JView (or another similar program), you just open up one image in a directory and you can flip through all the others in that same directory.

Your avitar freaks me out. It reminds me of a former roommates cat that felt the need to 'mark' it's territory on my clean clothes, backpack and whatever else that happened to be lying around. Of course it might have been payback for 'caging' it in a laundry basket or locking it in the closet outside. Either way, it's weird.

Lucky all he did was piss on your stuff.  He could have waited till you were asleep, then shredded your nutsack.  Animals remember.

I got no imput for the graphic thing though.  Check MacUpdate.com.

Re: Is there a decent picture viewer out there?

Cheers for all the responses people.

I was hoping that everyone would agree on an excellent picture viewer so that it would make my descision easy. Hmmm...

Has anyone used ACDSee on PC? Because that's how i'd like a picture viewer on my PB to work. I'd like to be able to use the mouse wheel to scroll through many images in a folder.

Which picture viewers can do this?

Re: Is there a decent picture viewer out there?

There was a GREAT app for OS 9 that would show thumbnails in a floating window of all of the selected files in a folder. Can't remember the name, though.

Jview is the closest thing to ACDsee that I've found.  Give it a shot at least.
