Ahh, and that is why I have a WarCraft 3 Archive folder on my hard drive...
heheh. Before every patch I copy the folder to the Archive then download the patch and I still can watch my old replays!

Re: grove of death
ya, it's too bad blizzard didn't make some way for you to watch ur old demos...
i don't really remember which version these demos were made in, it's been awhile.
but if u can watch them, then i think u'd appreciate the unstoppable strategy in them.
it doesn't work so well now with the new balance changes.

Re: grove of death
You really cant watch the old versions and here is why. When you watch a replay all the replay is, is a list of commands that the game follows to "re-create" and literaly have computers play out. While you are playing say on battle.net your warcraft 3 is recording every single movment action timing and such and and recording them as commands for the game to follow. So, in the new versions of warcraft 3 there are balance changes. This would change how the battle would be played out in the replay. If you watched an old replay in an updated warcraft and say you won in the replay, because of the balance changes and changes in unit statistics, you may not win. For Example: If you have StarCraft and Brood War, try opening a replay in Regular StarCraft. Make mental notes of how the game is played out, then open that same replay in Brood War. Sit back and watch. The game will be different. This is the same principle that warcraft and if I am not mistaken StarCraft runs under, except that you cannot open these old replays. FYI, they would be usless in the newer versions because of this. Hope this helps.

Re: grove of death
Sf and Bw might be true but no, Wc3 doesnt just write down a script... easily proven by using hacks or cheats and then watching the replay. In your way the computer would not enter the cheat or wouldnt hack the game, would battle it out and whoever was truely stronger would win, i.e. one hero attacking a base and destroying it using a cheat would die if the computer played it out against itself with no cheat, thus the system would crash...its scripts would fail...as something that it then has to do with the hero such as "move hero to northern gold mine" would cause it to fail as the hero is then dead....
