Re: Is Subway healthy?
hidden evil, feh. People have been eating bread for centuries without reaching the levels of obesity which plague modern America. I think breadd is a hidden wonder which Americans are just starting to really discover. The hidden evils, as you mentioned, are lazyness and the assumption that watching people blow up on TV will help keep the fat away.
Sure, people have been eating bread for centuries, but not always the same kinds of bread. Most modern breads use heavily milled flour and lack the nutrients and fiber of good whole wheat bread. The obesity problems in this country stem from Capitalism with no conscience, where the foods that are heavily processed store the longest and thus yield the highest profit margin, so everywhere you turn there are processed foods. It's hard to find places where you can get good quality fresh foods - your best bet is to go to the supermarket and make them yourself, but I like subway for a good 6" tuna sub on whole wheat.
Fresh foods and exercise are the keys to good health - it's working for me, and I only exercise about half as much as I'd like to and eat have as much fresh food as I'd like to. Still, I consider myself very fit.
I believe in Karma. That means I can do bad things to people all day long and I assume they deserve it.

Re: Is Subway healthy?
I'll take a WaWa custom made sandwich over Subway. Compared to WaWa, Subway's tastes bland. At least WaWa's have a feel to them.
WaWa is a small chain only available in 5 states in the northeast US. It's like 7-11 or Circle-K but nicer.

I was trying to remember that WaWa name. Even when I saw it, I wasn't sure.
I just get sandwiches where they are nearby but I like Lunardi's more than Albertson's because Albertson's are just from off the shelf stuff and stuff.

If you don't like it, take your terrorist ass to Cuba. I'm sure they'd love to have you.

I, like chrissy1970 and why8not9, enjoy the Wendy's salads. They are fresh and tasty. I'd take that over Subway.
WaWa does have a great tasting sandwich. Turkey, mustard, pickles, hot peppers, some sort of cheese, and oregano is my favorite combination. I wish I could purchase them in this state.
BBq_Woa, one dost not need be canadian to understand the ins and outs of fast food. Read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser if you haven't already. If you read this book, you may never eat a mass-produced hamburger again.

Why is Dairy (1-2 servings) above fish, poultry, and eggs (0-2 servings)?
Pyramids are bunk. Enjoy everything in moderation.
But alcohol in moderation has been contraindicated for me. I need to get drunk tonight.

Re: Is Subway healthy?
Glad to have found this site
I was going to buy into the franchise system of Subways until I looked at all the costs and what I really got for my money. The initial franchise fee was only $10,000 dollars which is 6000 British Pounds so it looked good but then when you looked into the remodelling costs $160,000 dollars and 120,000 Pounds
Then they charge you 6% royalties 5% advertising and 28% food cost.
Well it does not take much to see almost 40% of your turnover has gone.
Now I said to my self it cannot be that hard to make a sub sandwich, well its filling between two bits of bread. Well I was wrong, first I had to find the bread rolls, they are not readily available from a baker. So I set about getting a baker to produce the rolls, she did them perfectly, I made my first sub sandwich it consisted of ham, chicken breast, roast beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes jalapenos, onions and honey mustard. Everyone tried it and I asked for their verdicts they all loved it better than anything they had tasted before. Now I have to get it all done on a commercial scale.
I am looking for ideas to fill my subs with, things that the public want to see, not just what we want them to have.
If anyone has worked or owned a Subway Restaurant I would like to hear from you as well
Kind Regards

Considering how many people have jobs that require they tap on a keyboard all day, it would make sense to take this laziness into consideration and change diets accordingly. Or some people might like to be lazy so if they aren't burning all that hitler fat off, they should change their lifestyle so their laziness doesn't result in a worst case scenario.
Or people might have night jobs, which can really make them turn into balloons if they don't watch what they eat. I guess that's another case of laziness to take into consideration. Whoops, I mean lazyness.
I tap on a keyboard, work nights and work for the government. You should see all the fat ass cows I work with. They'll find any reason to have some party so they can oink out. A few are actually trying to lose weight others just say they don't care.Being close to a subway and mr.goodcents sure isn't going to help their cause, of course there's about 20 other places to eat around that area and I doubt they would eat anything that almost sounds good for them. I'd like to have one large ass with a huge gut along with some low self esteem and a diet coke.

Re: Is Subway healthy?
I bought a Subway and it had hair in it.
Maybe it's healthy, but that turned me off Subway for good.
They also didn't respond to my email.
So now I hate them a lot.
And I doubt they're healthy - if they were careful about the amount of unhealthy stuff that went into my sandwich, they would also be careful about hair content.
They say that the most secure computer is the one not connected to the internet.
That's why security experts recommend Telstra BigPond.

If Subway was healthy they'd tell their "Sandwich Artists" to lay off the mayo.

I have been in neither situation, but you should take a look at Fast Food Nation to read the sections on Subway franchises--it's not a pretty picture (at least in the US). Troublesome franchisees are eliminated by new stores placed close to these particular stores (despite promises of exclusivity over a region), and apparently it's tough to make a profit as a franchisee.
