ok the car is moving at 120mph and the paintball gun is shot forward (same direction as the car). woudl the wind resistence cancel out the enital speed gained from the car?
what about if you shot it out the window so it makes a perpendicular line with the direction the cars going? i mean like straight out the window. from inside the car.

if you've got no other choice, donate it to one of the programs that makes wigs for chemo patients. or tell them that is the reason you are growing long hair (so long as you actually do it when the time comes to cut your hair).

I thought I recognized that kitten pic. Its very cute.
To complicate the paintball question further, we need to know how far away the impact is from the launch of the paintball. All things encounter air resistance. Spherical objects like a paintball have relatively large coefficient of friction. Couple that with the light weight of a paintball, and its going to slow down rather quickly after firing into a headwind. I'd guess that any distance over about 100 yards would negate most of the enhanced speed from being launched from a moving vehicle.

well, a paintball's maximum speed (safely) is about 300 feet/sec.
your car is going 120MPH, which is (*5280) = 698400 f/h, which (/3600) = 194 f/sec.
assuming you fire it at a 45 degree angle to the front of your car, vector laws state that the vector and |vector| of the paintball will be
(SQroot)[(300^2)+(196^2)-(2)(300)(196)cos135]
which is
459.9693 f/sec, so basically ~460 feet/sec.
converting feet/sec to m/sec (so we can use newtons of force) we get
140.208m/sec.
Now, we can use the equation dF = Cd[(rV^2)/2]A, where cD is the coefficient of drag, r is the air density, v is the velocity and A is the reference area.
We can assume the Cd of a spherical object to be about 0.45 to 0.50.
The velocity is 140.2 m/sec.
The reference area is about 4 square centimetres, so (/100) (/100) is 0.0004m^2.
The density, r, is 1.225 kg/m^3.
Subbing this all into the equation we get
dF = 0.45 [ {(1.225)(140.2)^2}/2] (0.0004)
dF = 0.45 [ {12039.3) ] (0.0004)
dF = 2.16 N
so, at the barrel velocity, we have 2.16 N of air resistance. (I think, I might have forgotten one of the vector properties).
Anyway...
Our paintball weighs approximately 3.6 grams (the maximium allowable), which is 0.0036 Kg.
Knowing that A=F/M, and that the initial speed was 140.2 m/sec, we can determine that
2.16/0.0036 = 600 m/sec/sec.
Since our paintball was only travelling at 140m/sec at the beginning, we would only get about 1/4 sec of flight time. At an average velocity of 70m/sec, this translates to about 17.5 metres (about 50 feet).
So you could only shoot 50 feet forwards out of a 120MPH car. Wow.

OK, mo'ron's joke was a bit tasteless, but it wasn't as bad as some thing's I've seen. There are other ways to talk about flying though.
About impact on water, I think often times if it's above ~60 feet, you will die on impact. I was reading somewhere that if you hit water at 50 mph it acts as a solid.

I thought it was about 80MPH, but whatever. That's why bullets ricochet off water if you hit it at less than the critical angle for bullets (I wonder what that is?).
My friend experienced that with a load of no. 8 shot that ricocheted off the water and off the cliff wall in front of him, then back. Fortuately he wasn't hit.
