Seti speed in X

Joined macaddict seti team a couple of months ago, but only just got round to signing up for the forum.

Anyways, was just wondering if anyone has any good ways for speeding up seti on X through the command line interface or is there no way to do it.

I read the thread about how the client is not using altivec optimization but still thought there may be some little tricks.

Am doing units in just over 12 hours which i think is fairly comparable for megahertz when i look at 1.8GHz athlons doing it in about 3 hours.

Only thought i'd post cos i stumbled on the bit on the team macaddict homepage about improving speeds in 9. Was wondering about the ram disk idea - would that help in anyway? How about using some sort of system optimizer to give the terminal more priority?

TIA

Re: Seti speed in X

are you running? I noticed the system you have listed and was curious what upgrade card you have? I have several Motorola StarMax computers but none of the Motorola Clones have G4 upgrade paths.

Re: Seti speed in X

Motorola...meaning the cpu manufacturer...not the brand computer.

Re: Seti speed in X

I should really change that signature for this forum, it's my generic signature for when i post on PC forums to take the mickey out of all the components they list.

It's a standard G4/450 AGP sawtooth machine. No upgrade card, no modifications, except that i've added a CDRW and put it in an ATX case to get the extra drive bays, oh yeah upgraded the graphics card to a geforce2 and added an extra ram stick.

[edit] Just changed the sig a bit to make it a bit clearer - better? [/edit]
