One more folder

Ok, first went for seti, but in my opinion folding will be of more benefit, so I changed the task and joined team 18 :-)

I run ONE graphical client on a G$ Dual 800.

Some questions: How long does it take to calculate 1 WU in average?

Re: One more folder

I think it varies depending on the WU, my first one took 100 hours, and was worth 33 points. You may have a smaller one, or a bigger one.

Re: One more folder

You are only using one processor, if you run two clients you will double your output. You can keep the gui and also run one cli (with the -local flag), or you can run two cli clients. Actually, you might more than double your output if you run two cli's and use the -advmethods flag, which lets you run gromacs work units (which use altivec).

Ok, but I'm no Unix guru :-)
I now added the gui version to my startup items, but how to I set the flags so that they're used automatically.

Re: One more folder

If you click here you can see the point values and the deadlines for the different proteins. This should give you a general idea of how long they will take, but you most certainly finish them before the deadlines.
Unlike Seti (I think) the work units vary greatly in size and time. Hope this helps, and welcome! big_smile

Hi! Welcome to the team!

Watch out. That first protein may bite you. My first one took 2 weeks. But it seems to have gotten a lot faster after that. Maybe it uses that first one to scope out your system?

As for setting up Dual Processor setups and getting contrab edits to work, see ArtemisG3. You could probibly find some threads here on that very topic.
