AdamB's response seems quite correct to me.  If someone said something like that about Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Thurgood Marshall, etc., you all would have jumped on that person like there's no tomorrow.

But when it's a conservative being assailed you (plural) suddenly see no problem.  Does Slade actually know Mr. Keyes?  Does he know anything of his upbringing?  The struggles he may or may not have faced growing up as a black man, especially a conservative black man?  I doubt it.

Once upon a time people had thicker skin, and such comments would go unnoticed, and maybe even laughed at.  Unfortunately the left has succeeded in making everybody hypersensitive to anything that might be considered offensive in any way to any person at any time (even to the point that history is being rewritten so that we don't offend any of those dead people).  This is the world the liberals have created.  But, unlike popular leftist beliefs, even liberals are to be held accountable to it.

If you think racist remarks are something to joke about, then that's your problem.  If you think reacting to a remark according to the rules set forth by the liberals of the world is an overreaction, perhaps you should rethink your whole system of beliefs. 

I don't think Jesse Jackson would find it so amusing.  I think he would see your comments as a new low, not mine.  But, then, he would never come to the defense of a conservative black man, so you're probably safe in your remarks.  Carry on.
