Re: Has anyone else noticed Intel has slowed to a halt?
AMD comes here cause he/she has nothing better to do. Simple as that.
Being that I have seen how people change there mind about a Mac after using it and then having to go back and deal with there "PC" again. It is pretty hard to EVER convince me that the PC is better. That does not even include my own use of them.
I have built my own beast of a PC only to be totally disapointed at it. It took over a month to get it working properly due to bad hardware. Like 2 CPU's and a mobo. It is fast as hell in Photoshop, I'll give it that. But, while my "PC" was being delt with by the vendor that I bought the parts from, I used myTi 800 FOR EVERYTHING that PC was SUPPOSED to BE for :!: :!: :!:
More then anything that showed me how MUCH I DON'T NEED A PC. The only thing that I am waiting for now is for MS to update Entourage to support Exchange 2000. Then I am done with that PC. I'll turn it into a Terminal server, upgrade it to Win2K server and call it a night. I have a Firewire CDRW drive that I could use to burn CD's when needed as to not over use the built in one. I can be on the NET and LAN at the same time without worries, and do this from almost anywhere.
I went from Dual 2000+mhz of AMD power to a little 800mhz of G4 power and I have never been happier..
This does not even include the fact that Windows suck big round mellon monkey nutz....
Apple is the only company that makes you want everything they create... MacAddict-4-Life

What the cube droids are using.....
Cube droids - I like that phrase. I am going to use that, if it is ok with you, Coxy.
Besides, MS is already starting to collapse. Just like IBM, there own arrogance and greed will doom them.
I agree. I see MS going through what IBM went through in the mid-80s.
Time will tell how hard the fall is and if they come back a gentler giant much like IBM did.

Well first you need to purchase a piece of hardware from the link below.
Then we'll let you into the MacAddict "After Hours" forum.

Re: Has anyone else noticed Intel has slowed to a halt?
Their only competition is in AMD, who are being whipped soundly by Intel in every respect.
The Athlon XP currently beats the Pentium 4 "800 Mhz FSB" on several benchmarks, and that statement has been true several times in the past. You can also get a lower-clocked Athlon at a low price, which makes it better for TCO.
The AMD Opteron 64-bit server processor soundly kills the Xeon, and is a better deal than the Itanium 2. AMD is doing surprisingly well against Intel.
Poor Macs users are STILL being sold G3 and G4 chips. Lol...
There are only two things keeping me from going Windows: OS 9 and the lack of security of the Windows platform (hackers, spyware, viruses, adware, etc.). Windows is a crappy OS, but I'm not a huge fan of OS X.
P.S. You are right about Intel soundly whipping AMD in one case: notebook chips. The Pentium M is a lot better than the Athlon mobile. But, Intel's decision to push 802.11b is really stupid.
there's really no need for all of this

Re: Has anyone else noticed Intel has slowed to a halt?
I hate to tell you this XYZ but every reputable hardware review site has the P4 2.6 equaling and even beating the Athlon 3000+ in every performance test. The 3.06 at 533Mhz FSB and the 3.0 at 800 completely blow the AMD chips away.
The 64Bit will be a whole different story I admit but right now that is how it is.

Re: Has anyone else noticed Intel has slowed to a halt?
There is an office benchmark and a game or two where the AMD wins, but now that the Pentium 4 has Hyper-threading, larger cache, and an 800mhz bus with Dual-DDR, the Intel chip has pulled ahead. Plus i've read they overclock to 3.5 GHz+ without difficulty. Someone who does any kind of media work would want a Pentium4 PC over an AMD.

Re: Has anyone else noticed Intel has slowed to a halt?
develope those chips. In fact I doubt very much anyone now reading this post will live to see speeds in the petabyte, exabyte, zettabyte, or yottabyte level.
uhh, speeds arent measured in '---bytes' you mean petahertz etc. right?
Regarding that, I'm only 20 - I fully expect to see us get way up there, or the equivalent in some other computer calculating process (quantum?) before I die.
