A few questions about airport

I've got a few questions about Apple's Airport, maybe someone could point me to some info about this product, but here goes...

Does the airport assign addresses to the internal network? DHCP?

How can I hook more than one computer to the airport's 10/100 port? Can I just hook up a switch using an uplink? Will the airport still assign adresses to the computer on the switch?

I was reading a PDF sheet on Apple's site about the airport, and it says I need an airport ready Mac to set it up. I bought my G4 without the airport card, and it's the only Mac currently in the house. Can I set up the airport via the 10/100 port, I'm thinking maybe there was an oversight. (hoping actually, I don't want to buy an airport card for my mac)

Here's what I want to do, maybe it'll be a little more clear.

I want an internal network consisting of my Mac, and a few PC's to run on 100mbit. That's why I ask if I can hook a switch up to the 10/100 port on the airport.

I'm planning to run a Dell Axim handheld, and a couple PC's on the 802.11b. Hopefully a powerbook some day too!

Thanks!

Re: A few questions about airport

Yes.  DHCP and/or NAT.  You can hook more than one computer to the 10/100 if you use a switch, and you can set it to assign addresses over ethernet using the Airport Admin Utility.  I'm not certain if you can set it up over ethernet, you might if you set your ip address to match the network the airport is using when shipped (I think it is 10.0.1.1).  I can administer the airport at work using my PowerMac (does not have an airport card), but I think I set it up using my PowerBook.  Good luck.
