I not sure if this is the type of thing you are looking for. I am sure you don't want third party stuff, I guess I just found it odd that Apple themselves had this on their OS X download page.

I would hope for skins.
3rd party GUI hacks, in my experience, always introduce problems.
I know this is all about personal prefference but I find Brushed Metal to be simply hidious not only in its basic looks but also in the way it wastes space with wide borders and spaces.
I have hated it since QT5 came out and time and exposure have only firmed up my opinion.
My personal opinion is that this all boils down to one thing: Steve Jobs ego. I think he simply believes that he is the Grand Master GUI God and there is no place in his world veiw to accept that others may not share his "most perfect vision".
My prediction: No skins till Steve Jobs leaves Apple. Just the same way he did everything he could to kill themes in OS8/9.
