Skaters
So, any one here have a board, that isn't in a computer.
If so, let see some pictures of boards, and hear some stories.
And what about the music, what do you listen to? or what do you play? type? instruments? any bands in here?

Re: Skaters
Wow yea, Ill try to get some pictures up (from my new digital camera hehe) of me skating, I am fairly good. I just snaped my board doing a frontside nose slide, and almost cracked my skull
anyways, I listen to electronica, its the only way to go, very relaxing (trance) and I play in the HS band, I play Tuba and clarinet well. (since 4th grade) and my brother plays the bass. Whats up with PBase.com they are not allowing free membership anymore! Just my luck right when I get my new camera...

Re: Skaters
i didn't know skaters were still cool.
When did they stop being cool? Posers are the only "uncool" people that board. And the Jackasses in my Power Mechanics class.

Re: Skaters
i dont skate anymore, after destroying both my left elbow and right shoulder. but when i was younger i used to spend every day skating. was never very good, but loved it regardless.
got into punk music in 6th grade. listened to hc for a while, lately been listening to mostly just rock and roll (guns, andrew wk, motley crue...) and because im right in the middle of the providence noise scene, a lot of that stuff too, (lightning bolt, forcefield, mindflayer, knifestorm...)
i registered this sn years ago when i was sxe, and since i used to be a moderator here and for some this name carries some weight, i dont bother changing it.
good to see some other skaters in these boards, things get a bit (and by a bit, i mean a whole f**king lot) geeky in here.
ive got almost 500 cd's of obscure indie stuff, so if you ever wanna talk music hit me up.

I play guitar
I'm in a band, but we haven't come up with a name yet. No complete original songs, though I have a couple projects that I'm working on.
As for skateboarding.... I tried, but for now I've given up until summer comes again. I just haven't been able to get the hang of doing an ollie.

Re: Skaters
I snowboard, but I've never enjoyed skateboarding, though lot of my friends skateboard. I agree with jkahless about the posers. Once, when I was waiting in the queue for a lift with a couple of my pals who skateboard, I heard two posers in front of us discussing music. One of them mentioned a punk band that he listened to. The other said that he listened to them as well, though he didn't like their music. He then went on to talk about how cool they were just for being a punk band, and that that was why he listened to them. I could tell that he only snowboarded because he thought he'd look cool. I wanted to beat him to death.
Music-wise, I'm a Kraftwerk fan. I like a lot of techno, but I still love the originals. I also like a lot of rock and other stuff I'm not really good at classifying. I've a lot of stuff by Zappa, die Toten Hosen, and some Propellerheads. I'm learning to play the bagpipes as well.

Re: Skaters
Cool, didn't think there would be so many. It's awsome to see that some of us get out of the house.
I listen to Lo-Fi, and electronica, and some Ultra-lounge, I also have the Blue and Green Weezer discs, and some underground Weezer I downloaded. Also llisten to a bunch of other stuff, on and off. www.grooveselector.com is the site of a good DJ.
I've had one tib-fib break(shoulda' kept the cast), one ankle brake, and one nose fracture, and one toe fracture. My first board was a yellow, banana board. I've boarded since Midle school, and I blade from time to time. I use a skate park in another town, because the one here has a lot of drug trafic.
I'd like to try surffing but I live in the middle of the US, and don't have many opertunities to get to the oceans.
Play base, 6 string, and sing now and then. In school I played piano, claranet, french horn, and violin. And spent half of HS with headphones on. And wasnt there half of senior year, not because I didn't need to be, but because since I was 18 and didn't live at home, I could excuse myself, and get pasess.
I have a freind named Rachel that play bag pipe. She gets a red face when she playes, takes alot of air.
I keep skating, and don't plan on stoping. When I have boys I've got to do something with them. However I do wear protection, helmet and some pads. So I don't get to ruffed up.
Just A little description. My last board has an evil jack in the box on it. I'm geting a new one, and puting an Apple in the middle, and my enitials at the ends, AEA done the right way is semetrical, and curved.

I like your avatar, looks like the color scheam on the "Bad Apple" PC that was in, i think, pcworld, or the like. they took a power mac G3 tower, and modified it with black and dark read or plum accents, and put a mini ATX, and stuff in it.

I think I saw that once. Today I decided that the original Mac OS color scheme was a bit boring, so I decided to spice it up a bit.

Re: Skaters
I used to skatboard in Junior High and some of Highschool, but after jacking myself up bad on a fat boardslide down this like 30 foot rail and tearing my back apart on gravel (still have tons of scars all over my back from it) I gave it up. I still have my world industries board, but one of my friends took it home like a year ago and im too lazy to get it back. I was never really good at skating and lived in a bad area for skating (a mountain with more dirt roads than paved). After i quit skating they built a skatepark (just my luck) but I dont really care. i started riding BMX, and even though i still suck at that i dont jack myself up as bad as i did when skating and i have more fun with it anyway.
As for music, im into rock and metal mainly....T00L, deftones, APC, alice in chains ect

Re: Skaters
Hahaha, I remeber when I first tried to ollie, I fell flat on my ass. Then I tried to just ride, and I fell on my ass. So I decided to play guitar instead. I'm kinda in a band, I sing, too. We're called Clockwise Embolism (dunno what it means, but it sounds cool!) and we're just trying to get our head above the water and get some good songs together. Anybody in the Philadelphia area, we're looking to start playing out sometime in Feb. Ha, fortysixandtwo, I get it, like the Tool song. Tool rules...

Re: Skaters
I saw a guy the other day, never steped on a board before. We explained how to do an ollie, he thought about it for a few minutes, got on, and did it perfect. It was really somthing.
So anyone have pics, band pics, boards, tricks, injuries, girl freinds (clothed) anything that showes you don't actually sit in your comfy' computer chair all day.

Re: Skaters
I'm in a band. Were called the Pundits. I started it the last year of HS and we are still together. We play a good mix of punk/ska/rockabilly/rock. In HS we were never realy that popular because there were alot of bands in my class and mine was the newest. My class started a music scene in out part of the world. Now though things are really going well for us. On our CD release show we sold out before we played and sold more shirts that night then all the shows before. It was a very very rad show. People were dancing and pumping their fists and some were even singing along. The next show was just as cool. Our site is down right now, but should be up soon.
Word.
