Current Server Conditions
this here thread comes at the request of JKC in the "Servers have been ordered thread." This is the place to post what the server is currently running, and what you want it to be running, in terms of force powers, game types, and bot settings. Let's hear it folks.
I think the current settings are
Force level: Jedi Knight
Game type: FFA
Weapons: Lightsaber Only
Time Limit: 20 minutes
Kill Limit: 30 kills
Bots: 2 (Level: slightly retarded
)
That just about covers it. Lemme know if I got somethin wrong.
All about the nipples.

wrong, all wrong
i was just on, and i enabled voting, and changed the bots and upped the force powers a tad (well, ok, i turned them down first, then upped them some
)
but yes, please vote what you WANT. last time i tried guessing what you want, i had it all backwards, so tell us! i THOUGHT you guys wanted force powers off, so i turned them off, then everyone says they like them (but not lightning hos
), but how strong do you guys want them, and etc.

By the way, I thought it was pretty cute that the bots were Kyle and Jan.
I found it really funny that Jan consistently killed Kyle.

They need to work on kissing technology in the game though. It looked like they were head butting to me.
Funny/off topic:
Once the game screwed up during that scene and it delete their lips. Hehe...that was pretty funny.
On topic: Can you spectate and just watch the bots go at it? I would find the entertainment value very high.

yeah, i was spectating breifly yesterday.
you go to the same place where you configure your force powers, and just hit the button that says spectate. to switch from player to player, you just hit the mouse button. only thing is, you cant vote while spectating.
one thing that diminishes the entertainment value though, is that the bots dont watch where they are going half the time, so you are stuck looking at walls :'(, but yeah, besides that its fun

We are actually paying for a server tracker, which is currently located...
...HERE...
...we will be including it on the JK2 Division webpage, when it's up & running.

Re: Current Server Conditions
I vote we change the kill limit from 30 to 15 frags. I havent been in anything so far where we went up to 30 kills. Plus with the amount of time it takes to slash someone, no way its gonna get up to 30 kills anytime soon.

Re: Current Server Conditions
Do we have bot issues on the server now? There seems to be as many as six bots at a time on the server, though "bot_minplayers" is set to 3. Kinda strange.
Did anyone notice late last night (PST) that we lost the server for a while, like 10-15 minutes? Couldn't join, and it wouldn't show up on server tracking apps.
(I agree on the frag limit -- 30 is way too much. 15 or 20 would be good.)

Re: Current Server Conditions
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, TURN THE FORCE POWERS BACK UP!!!!
I require at LEAST Jedi Knight; if I can't have my saber, push, and jump all the way up, someone is going to die (how about bird?
).
It would also be extremely nice to have ONE of the light/dark side powers available in addition to the basics...

There are a number of possible answers to this:
1) you would kill the guy who agrees with you?
2) killing bird is happening far too often on that server already
and
3) if you strike me down, I shall be come more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
(It's like a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure post... heh)

Re: Current Server Conditions
i wanna make a request for a certain mod. im not sure of the name, but it basically enables realistic saber damage so you dont have to hack and slash at your opponent for a good twenty minutes just to kill 'em. one, maybe two hits usually does the job. i find it a bit more realistic, and equally challenging as the normal mode. anyway, i hope maybe we could put the mod on an available mod list at least? a couple games with it on would be a lot of fun.

w00t, so more like the first person? i know a lot of people have been complaning that with each upgrade, from 1.00, to 1.04, the saber gets weaker (of course macs shipped as .04, so we never got to see the full beauty of it in the first place :'( )and now the saber is so weak, its just unrealistic. someone hits you, and you get two points damage, it sux
but if you can find the name of it, that would be cool

Re: Current Server Conditions
Actually Bird has an excellent technique for getting saber kills fast
. But im not gonna give away his secret
I like the force at a low to medium level, on high it was nothing but force hoing and deflecting stuff back at you nonstop. Could never get a good fight going
.

Unless you're talking about my usual 1337-ness, it's no secret. The overhand chop down in the red ("strong") style is usually a one shot kill. But it's slow, and must be aimed well, otherwise you leave yourself open.
You start a swing in red style, then when the saber is over your head, your push forward then jump. It's a fun move, as is baiting someone to come attack you after you miss, then kicking them when they do
.

Re: Current Server Conditions
Game is turning into street fighter
.
My fav is the saber toss to the head at just the right moment, then watchin their arms flail as they fly flat to the ground
. Tough to swing a saber with high ping at times tho.
Oh btw, nice duels tonight Bird
. Came close at that end, I was almost dead. Then on that one time, I dont even know how I got ya cause I was facing the wall
. I was so low on hp that the win on that round should have gone to you. Oh well, theres always next time eh
.
Having this MX500 mouse with more than 3 buttons is nice. I finally got some force moves binded to it so ive been getting a lil better. Still cant counter those grip then toss over edge things very well. Think the ping is too slow for it. Oh well, my old way was to use keys and slowly change the force powers, hoping I could ready up the right one in time
.
Oh, think we need the duel limit lowered again or something. I dunno, maybe around 5. When ya consider there are 3 rounds per match before it puts another player in. With a server that has a many ppl on it. Gonna take a long time to go thru everyone with it at 10.

Actually, that's not even a mod, it's a console setting built into the game:
seta g_saberrealisticcombat #
I think there are levels as to how effective it is, something like 1 - 30, but don't quote me on that
Here's something else I just found in my config file that might be useful to edit:
seta g_dismembermentprobabilities #
Mine is set at 1 right now, so maybe this has different levels, too.

Aaaah, the Red DFA. I don't usually use it since, as you said, it leaves you pretty open to retaliation if ya miss. A good counter if you're close enough to the guy attacking is the Blue Upward-Slash while he's flying overhead. Nothing like gutting a guy who thinks he's gonna lay a good DFA down. It's usually followed by "Aw crap" which is pretty gratifying.
I've been trying to master the Yellow DFA also - can't remember the key combo from work. You land almost bowing, and do a cool backhanded flourish-upward kinda move. Dunno the damage it incurs, but it looks really sweet if ya manage to land a strike!

Re: Current Server Conditions
Argh
The way dueling is set up now is horrible, fix it!
The best of 3 thing sucks, because the guy who wins the first round has surely been wounded, putting him at an obvious disadvantage for the second round.
The *normal*
way is so much better... one kill, one win.
Also, I find saber lock to be f-in annoying, can we turn that off?
It seems only the bots can get me into one on purpose, and they always win it for some reason (probably cause I don't know how to get of one
but still).

Im with Ear on that too. Keep it at 10 Duel Limit but just change it so that theres only one match per player instead of 3.

the closest thing to that in the server file is seta g_dismember 1000 , and im king of apprehensive of adding in new lines, but i can look it up, and do something in game

Whatever happened to learning how to win one, and not just turning it off? Geez Louise!
(Repeated use of the attack key will break a saber lock, btw, Ear.)

Re: Current Server Conditions
I think if we get together and pool our knowlege (or, in my case, leech off those who have some experience with the game
), we won't have to worry about force powers, saber locks, or anything else...we train, we learn, we get better, we go challenge other clans.
I'd rather learn it and deal with it, than turn it off and ignore it and get spanked by strangers wandering onto our server.
