Well, i check out chat when i get home from work, which coincidentally, is 7am. Not to mention those that live in other parts of the world that get on at that time.

Just tossing this out there...but wouldn't it make a bit of sense (in the MacAddicty sense) to have a special MacAddict room thingie in AIM/iChat as an option as well?

I wouldn't use it because i prefer IRC, but if i remember correctly, Malkin set up a room in AIM a year or 2 ago, so i think it can be done.

All one would have to do is go to a chat named "MacAddict." If it doesn't already exist, it will be created. As long as someone is in it, it'll exist. I could sacrifice myself and sit there keeping the room alive, if need be.
For what it's worth...I despise IRC. Had some bad experiences with it.

Some old IRC app thing busted up my Performa a few years back. Been afraid of them since. Plus, whenever I use one, I get into it, and then just get put off by the terrible interface they always seem to have.
I have really high standards for the UI.

If you're after better UI (at the cost of irc commands and other features), then check out Colloquy. It can be a little buggy, which is why I didn't include it in the list of client options, but it's a looker.
