getting banned helped northwind, for about 5 posts then he went back to normal. We'll see what happens with camp david.

Christianity believes that homosexuality is a sin (let's not get into the huge debate about how some churches are letting homosexualas into their dwindling ranks).  The Pope is supposed to be the ultimate source on Catholicism (a part of Christianity).  Now remembering that Christianity believes this is a sin, WHAT THE HELL DID YOU THINK THEY WERE GOING TO SAY?

Bravo to both the Vatican and to President Bush for their seemingly joint and combined opposition to perversion! Although the President could not propose, certainly the Vatican could, the re-establishment of leper colonies for such vermin that spread perversion.

God hates gays and lesbians almost as much as he apparently hates kids, if the Vatican is any indication.

yah, the vatican and the catholic church has some issues of their own and it's hard to listen to them when they can't even deal with their own incredibly messed up problems.

As a liberal Catholic, I am always disturbed by how much smarter and more openminded I am than everyone else involved with the Church. As far as I know, Christianity has 2 simple rules, reduced from the 600+ of Mosaic Law, by Jesus himself. "Love God above all things, and love your neighbor as yourself." I see nothing specific about how homosexuals can't live in a loving relationship. In fact, I think most of the problems come straight from Leviticus, where it says that homosexuality is an abomination. Frankly, I'd be more inclined to listen to the Son of God, than pay attention to 4000 yr old guidelines for how to live in a post-nomadic society where planting a tree on a Saturday was a sin punishable by death.

And with the whole Christian beliefs thing, I repeat something at Mass every Sunday, which pretty much sums up all the beliefs that I share with the church. It's called the Nicene Creed. In it, I'm sure, you will find nothing at all about homosexuality, or sexuality in general, for that matter.

So, to form all that I just said into a tangible opinion, I do not believe homosexuality is a sin, and therefore, I cannot see any negative moral effect on our society due to state-sanctioned non-gender-specific civil unions.

I don't know about anyone else, but I for one, am ready for a new pontiff.

It is my opinion that the Catholic church will address the absolution of divorcees well before they start absolving gays, and that is not going to happen any time soon.

I understand the want for equal rights, djmozilla, and I know it is frustrating to not be able to adopt or make medical decisions for a same-sex partner in certain states. Luckily, we are not governed by the church. Theirs is a private and separate organization that can pitch their dogma to politicians just as easily as any drug manufacturer.

If your politicians are easily swayed by church propaganda, then they are letting their religion get in the way of their politics, and should not be re-elected.
