Re: Do you honestly ever download illegal music/software.
For me, it's quite circumstantial. I cannot justify buying major-label CDs. With very few exceptions, the only bands that deserve my money for CDs are local/Indie bands. Now, with the iTMS, I'm buying more major-label stuff, but generally, I'll continue to "steal" it (note: if charging $15-$18 for a CD isn't stealing my money, downloading a few songs isn't stealing their property).
As for software, it depends on what it is. I'll gladly pay Mac shareware developers, and I'll never steal anything that's put out by Apple (i.e. Panther). Nonetheless, much of my software is less than legal.
As for movies, I very rarely download Hollywood films (mostly because Hollywood films suck). I'll rent and rip DVDs, or buy them outright, but it's mostly obscure stuff. The one exception is anime, where I download EVERYTHING, because $25+ is unreasonable for a handful of censored and otherwise ruined episodes.

Re: Do you honestly ever download illegal music/software.
I've always seen software as sort of a learning experience. This might not be the way that the software companies see it, but I always go by the rule of "If I ever make back the $500-$3000 to buy this program fair and square, I'll do it." So far, no, nothing. I'm a student, about to go to college, and I just don't see these companeis hurting when I use their software, mostly for home use, when I wouldn't have bought it in the first place because I can't afford it. If anything, I'm now much more likely to purchase their software in the future because I'm much more familiar with it.
Basically what I'm saying is that if my livelyhood depended on the software, I'd buy it no questions asked. If I need to make home movies or school projects, not a chance.

Yes, but if it's worth it I end up buying it. Consider it illegal demo'ing.
