Bring back PowerPlay
After looking over some old MacAddicts, this was generally the highlight of the magazine for me. I know it's been incorporated into the get info section, but one page is not enough. The screenshots were also great fun. Let's face it, games are what really matter, and more game content and reviews the better

Re: Bring back PowerPlay
Powerplay is fine where it is. Maybe a two page spread, yes. The sad fact is that the Mac computer does not have gaming goign for it. So in a rag not about Mac gaming, does it need it's own 3-4 page section? No
I do agree that the screenies need to come back!

Edward, I beg to differ - MacAddict usually only reviews/mentions a small portion of the games that are coming out for the Mac. Besides the bigs publishers like Blizzard, Aspyr, MacSoft, and MacPlay, there are the smaller shops like Freeverse, Ambrosia, Virtual, and Pangea that deserve some ink. Look at all the games that have come out or will come out in 2003:
Aspyr: Wolverine, Indiana Jones, Elite Force 2, 007 Nightfire, Zoo Tycoon, Tony Hawk 4, Kelly Slater Pro Surfer, Law and Order, Nascar 2002 and 2003, BloodRayne, Sim City 4, Sims Unleashed, SpyHunter, Tiger Woods, Harry Potter 2, Medal of Honor Spearhead.
MacSoft: Masters of Orion 3, Unreal Tournament 2002, Dungeon Siege, Halo, Neverwinter Nights, Age of Mythology.
MacPlay: Aliens vs. Predator 2, No One Lives Forever 2, Another War, Europa Universalis
Blizzard: Warcraft3 - the Frozen Throne. World of Warcraft.
Sony brought Everquest to the Mac. The list goes on and on. How are you going to provide adequate coverage of that in 1 page and one or two reviews at best per month? Sure we don't get it all (BF 1942, Grand Theft Auto, Half-Life), but a large number of AAA titles and as many smaller titles are finding their way to the Mac these days.
With the G5 around the corner, things are looking up for Mac gamers, and I wish MacAddict would devote just a tad more staff and ink to it. Hey MacAddict staff, any volunteers? Where's Dave Reynolds when you need him.

Yes, but major game announcements is all we need. it's not like we need cheats or hints, or walkthroughs or anything like that. I mean why should there be more than two pages? Give me reasons?

Well, I'd be happier with 2 pages instead of one.Why not cheat codes, tips and tricks, etc.? There used to be some cheat codes and tips and tricks in Powerplay, which I enjoyed - the readers' screenshots were good. Major and minor gaming announcements, video card news, interviews with game developers and publishers, all good. I found a tutorial on how to use the StarCraft map tools in one. There's no shortage of possibilities.
I don't find the idea of a section devoted to gaming wasteful or inappropriate. Gaming is no longer the tiny niche it once was. Gaming is one of the few areas in computers that is evolving, dynamic, pushing the hardware as it goes. Microsoft uderstood this years ago, and Apple seems to be promoting gaming more and more. Look at all the gaming info on their website - heck they even updated their OS to 10.2.6 for Unreal Tournamrent. Aspyr has probably brought more software titles to the Mac in the last year than any company out there.
I'm probably not convincing you Edward, but really all I'd like to see is a bit of a return to the MacAddict of some years ago, with more game info than they have now.
