Transfering files over the internet
We just started a sister church in Las Vegas. I'm here in Bakersfield, CA. I'm in charge of all the video that is played during services at both places. There is G4 running OSX in the video booth at both locations. In Bakersfield we have a T1 connection. In Vegas there is Cable internet. I'm wanting to transer finished video files from Bakersfield to Vegas to be played from FCP.
My question is: how do I set up the computers to transfer files back and forth. I've never really learned that much about networking and I could use some help.
Thanks

if you have static ip address and no web pages on eather you should be able to use FTP an easy to do this is to use a web browser and type in the ip address in where the web address goes. this way is very dangrous it is easy for other unwanted use of your computer. I think you can connect by typeing the ip address in the connect to server space.

One way to do this is to run an FTP server on one (or both) Macs. In OSX you can do this in the Sharing Preferences.
Then you could use either a browser or an FTP client (Like Fetch) to shunt the files around between Macs.

Re: Transfering files over the internet
Here's one way... Limewire. Share the file on one computer, name it something no one will search for, like "wombat" and get it on the other computer. Slower then FTP, but easier. You could also try KDX, Hotline or Carracho. I know, all those are used mainly for seedy purposes, but there's no reason you couldn't use them legitimately.

Re: Transfering files over the internet
A couple more ways:
1) Turn on file sharing in the preference panes. From the Finder, go to the "Go" menu, and hit "Connect to Server...". Type in the other computer's IP address.
2) For the sake of completeness, Hotline Client and Server. This is older software, you should stick with #1.
Of course, this gets into the whole "are you beind a router?" question. But, if you have questions with this, just come back and ask.
