Re: Sound card for PowerBooks..
I dunno.
If you're doing Pro audio, you prabably have a nice firewire I/O box that already sounds as good as good can be.
If you're just an Mp3 listenin' consumer, chances are you don't even care/notice the bad interference.
It's just another widget awash in a vast sea of widgets.

....not to mention that you're looking at a "review" posted by the manufacturer (they tend to be kinda biased....). I have a set of relatively inexpensive Altec-Lansing speakers and a sub and they're great for the MP3 listening I do.
As for pro audio....you'd have to ask a pro...

Re: Sound card for PowerBooks..
Although I wouldn't consider myself an audio pro, I used to use my Pismo to help me DJ a couple of years ago. I would plug the RCA cables into an adapter and plug that into the headphone out jack. I thought it worked fine. The wear and tear has caused that jack to become useless now, unless I angle the connector a certain way.
Soooooo.....when asked to DJ New Year's Eve this year I bought a Hi-Fi Link. It is a little device that connects to your USB port. It bypasses the sound card. I could certainly tell the difference the other night. It costs $50 and there is a pro version for $99.

You might have an interest in this card, too:

Also. note this quote:
pcmcia is currently faster than firewire, but firewire 2 will smoke pcmcia.
Don't know if that's true now.
I'm going to slap your ass so hard, your bell-bottoms will be ringing.
