Re: What Was or is Your Favorite Macintosh Computer?

Beige G3 Desktop

Very Expandable, Fast, and Powerful

Same here, plus I have all the senitmental value of having saved up for it working at a Wal-Mart and it being my first major ($3000+) purchase.

It got me into Film and 3D, which got me into college and got me where I am today!

I love that little guy, he has retired to being the only Mac at an internet Cafe, in fact I am reinstalling OS X on him today...

I'll never part with him...  Maybe I will bronze him once he is totally fried...

What is THAT ??? confused

Did you click the link? It's a prototype SE in a clear case. By most accounts, only 10 or so cases were produced, and only a handful of those actually had machines put into them. There is one known working model for sale by a fellow in Japan (I believe that's the one in the QTVR link), and the current bid is around $12,000.

Uh, I have an original Apple Laptop, aka, the Luggable. The damn thing was huge and 16 pounds. It ran okay, but you wouldn't want it on your lap, that's for sure. The battery is so utterly dead right now that you can't get it to start up.

Got you beat ... I have the original "luggable." The Singer Sewing machine model "Compaq" original. Green screened Dual Floppy (when they were really floppy) 28 lb portable!  big_smile

a friend had one of those 'compaq' behemoths in college. we wasted so much time playing a game called 'ladder'. that's a game i'd love to find a mac version of up

Re: What Was or is Your Favorite Macintosh Computer?

I'd say the B&W G3 towers were the best ever.  First to have firewire.  First to have the spiffy door.  First to have the cool colors, etc.  It's just an awesome machine!

Favorite portable: The iBook 466 SE.  The keylime.  Awesome.....

That thing kicked arse
Check it out:

I so wanted one of them 6/7 years ago - meanwhile i was stuck with a performa 6200

he DayStar Genesis MP  932+, based on the Tsunami architecture, features four 225 MHz PowerPC 604e processors, 32 MB of RAM, and a 4.0 GB hard drive in an expandable

Re: What Was or is Your Favorite Macintosh Computer?

My favorite mac of all time is the G3 B&W.
I like it because it is the first machine that made me lust for a machine it made me say I gotta get it.
my second fav is the iMac "G4"

My favorite Mac is my Beige G3 desktop.  I've added 768 megs of RAM, a modern hard disk drive, a modern video card, USB, and a CD burner.  This week sometime, my G4/1000 ZIF upgrade should be showing up.  I like the machine so much that I have a spare (a Beige G3 tower) as a backup should anything happen to this one...

My second favorite Mac is the white iBook G3/700/800/900.  I've had a G3/800 version of the laptop for a while now, and I'm going to sell it and replace it with the G3/900 version hoping for a little extra speed bump. smile

Re: What Was or is Your Favorite Macintosh Computer?

You didn't know about the Apple III? Would have been the best computer Apple made if it had been backward-compatible with the Apple IIs. However, it flopped because of a lack of software and hardware problems. One of the troubleshooting procedures was to drop the machine from 3 inches to reseat loose chips. lol

Re: What Was or is Your Favorite Macintosh Computer?

The Pismo revision Powerbook G3 (the last black model) was definitely the most elegant design for a laptop ever.
And, expandability is a virtue for these things. There's a new multi-drive, which can burn DVD RAM, DVDRW, and CDRW, as well as a 900mhz G3 upgrade for this 'Book. I know of no other PowerBook with such potential.

The most innovative and efficient, has to be either the 12" iBook or 12" albook....all those features in such a small package

In addition to the Daystar, I'll throw in a vote for the Umax S900. It had a much better case design, tho, and also had six PCI slots, as well as three SCSI contollers, one of which was 68 pin SCSI 3 (if you had the ethernet upgrade card). It would be nice to see another quad-processor machine. A quad-G5 would simply scream.

Virginia Techs Big Mac wich is number three on this list

I would have it to play chess with and at the same time it could warm up the house I live in.  eek

I like my G4 466 MHz Digital Audio but I must say that the G5 duals both have the juice and the silence I want. I have owned an LC II but I can

Re: What Was or is Your Favorite Macintosh Computer?

The 8600 has a place in my heart to.
my first mac was a 6500/225 it had great sound.
the 8600/250 was so damn expandable some times I wish I kept it. I never had a prob with it at all. never had the pleasure of using a 9600.
I hear they were great work horses to.

Re: What Was or is Your Favorite Macintosh Computer?

At the moment am doing a lot of bits and pieces to my customised G4 - think it might regain a programmers switch and then some add ons sooner or later. Am determined to make it last at least another 6 months - guess that means it's gonna need a processor upgrade
