selling songs on ebay

eBay Auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … 2555673237

This guy bought a song off of iTMS and has decided to auction it off on eBay.  The seller think that if you can legally sell a used CD, you should be able to sell a bought/used song, too.

It seems logical to me, but what do you think Apple and the RIAA have to say about it?

Re: selling songs on ebay

There's an article on /. about reselling songs you've purchase online through places like buymusic.com and the iTMS, but I didn't read it.

They're not sharing, they are selling it outright. Just like when you sell a CD to a used CD shop.

Of course, the RIAA won't see it this way. Apparently, you really don't own anything when it comes to music.

Re: selling songs on ebay

It's only 99 cents ($0.99) on iTMS. The seller had to share his password to 'share' this file with he buyer. It could be a scam though. It's possible he ripped the song from a CD and renamed .m4a to .m4p.

Re: selling songs on ebay

www.news.com interviewed the dude.  He is just looking for attention. He said he wanted to see what legal issues this brought up.  I looked at the auction and the bidding was up to $2,500.

It's 85 bids and $100,100.00 now.  Why anyone would pay that much for just one song, that you may not be able to even listen to, I have no idea.
