Need iBook casing mod
Hey there. I have the original Tangerine Clamshell and want a casing mod for it.
Any ideas?

Well. I'm not sure. Something to the outer casing. I want to leave the inside the same. Maybe colour changes.....I don't know.

Re: Need iBook casing mod
I should be getting my own 14.1" iBook soon - I want to get the back of the LCD screen taken off, a piece of the blue-colored Saran Wrap put on the inside of the Apple....
That way, when the monitor is on, the Apple glows blue instead of white. It'd look rather similar to the OS X Apple Menu symbol.
Cool? Or already been done?

Re: Need iBook casing mod
Apple logo modding on the newer iBook's is nothing new. In fact i've had that exact setup with the blue plastic wrap myself. What I would recommend if you do it though, is just print out a piece of paper with the color blue that you like. The plastic wrap was great until I tried it, it was just too transparent. Most of the time it just BARELY tinted it. My next attempt is to print out a high quality "blue note" (the symbol of the St. Louis Blues Hockey Team) and put it back there.

Honestly, I'm glad to hear it. That way, it won't be too tough to figure out how to do it myself, or too hard for one of my modding friends to take care of.
Thanks for the advice with the paper. The light is really that bright, that it'll shine through a piece of tinted paper? Maybe I should use a light paper stock when I do that anyway.

Re: Need iBook casing mod
As soon as I can get my hands on an appropriate size of the old skool Apple 7-color logo, I'm going to mod my 12.1" iBook and put the sticker over the apple logo in the case so it glows in 7-color wonderfulness.

Yeah it is that bright. That's the reason that the plastic wrap won't hold up in color. I just used standard printing paper for my last one that I was talking about.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes for you.

Thanks.
I've been looking to buy an iBook for the last two years, and thanks to a roommate with a rich grandmother (a roommate that owes me a good bit of money anyway), I'm finally going to get it!
I think I'll wait until after MacWorld, though, and see what they come out with. Might be something interesting.

Re: Need iBook casing mod
Wait longer,
The roumor sites have been flingin around the idea that new models will not come out untill late january. This is said to be due to a slump in sales over the holidays, so the added time will allow for the remaing units to be sold. I'm probably gonna do the same thing, but wait untill feb 1st, or the release of the new books, wich ever comes sooner

Not to be the party pooper, but do you guys really think the iBook line is going to get an update so soon? I mean they just knocked the processor up a 100Mhz and doubled the VRAM. I don't know enough to say they will or won't, but i'm just wonder why you think they may.
