Re: Need Dungeon Siege...
Hmmm...
1GHz Athlon => 37fps
450MHz G4 => 15fps (hopefully)
Reason to upgrade?
I ran DS on a laptop 800Mhz with 16MB Radeon, ran fine...slow at times, but fine...on averae 30, full action 15fps
The mac, with a G4/450 with a radeon 8500, I would guess we are going to see 35 - 45fps.

Westlake - WAKE UP! We need some answers.
Just to be fair, I haven't emailed Westlake with my questions. Has anyone else?
It may be a little harsh on them to expect them to be looking around on forums, when they should be working like slaves on porting more software.
I can see it now... Glenda up at the head of the room, slowly beating a drum. The coders type in time with the beat (well, maybe a bit faster, but in sync).
boom... BOOM... boom... BOOM...
Every so often, a coder grunts and topples forward into the keyboard. Some guards drag the body out, and bring in another hapless coder, manacling them to the keyboard...

Re: Need Dungeon Siege...
Westlake needs to answer if PC Siegelets will work on the Mac Dungeon Siege. There is no info on their website about this. We need to know before the game hits the stores. I don't want to buy it and then find out Siegelets won't work.

Re: Need Dungeon Siege...
It's possible that the sieglet question is something they can't answer right now. Maybe they're working hard at getting the original game and content working that they haven't spent much time working with sieglets. Just be patient.

I asked Phil about this a week or so ago. The answer is that none had been tested yet (more pressing aspects require attention at the moment), but the expectation was that they should probably work. This does not constitute an official answer.

Thankyou for the unofficial answer. I sort of thought they would be, as I expect the file format is the same for the game proper, and for siegelets, and I can't imagine Westlake would rework the existing format.
By the way, Brad, Jedi Knight II was a lot of fun. Keep up the good work, and I'll keep my wallet at the ready...

Useful and informative, but not directly comparable. To be so, you'd need to run the same benchmark under the exact same test conditions, or very similar.

True, but the processor was a Celuron 800, and it was a satellite Toshiba...not really meant for gaming, or power.
Neither is a mac G4/500 so it seems any more, but by the looks of the graphics I saw on a PC, and the ability of play, as well as the overall AI, and FPS, it's the best I can get without spending some money on decent benchmark software.
The other reason I can say this, is because playing games on a 16MB video card on my G4, seeing an average of 7 -24 FPS on SOF: II (with low res on), when I upgraded to a radeon 8500, I saw nearly 35 -40 FPS with High res. With everything on to it's max, I saw the FPS drop to 20 to 25, and 10 at busy areas, but that was rare, the biggest test was the jungle.
But overall, I see almost nothing major that will slow down a G4/500 with a 64MB video card playing DS. Especially if it can run pretty good on a Celuron 800Mhz.
