LaCie Blue III

I've got a LaCie Blue III and it is showing some odd simptoms that i was wondering are normal.  The first is that it snaps.  I know all CRTs do (I have several).  This is a visible discharge that looks larger than a quarter.  It happens once or twice when I first turn it on.  Also this is a NO TOUCH monitor as it will visibly shock a finger upto an inch from the glass surface.  Is this normal?  It's a nice security precaution (I dont like fingerprints on it) But the shock it quite substancial and painfull.  Anyways, that's prob1.  The other question I have is there seems to be a plastic coating on the glass of my monitor (not the obvious new monitor one).  It has gotten air under it in some places and shows up significantly in dark areas.  The plastic looks to end under the blue finish so i cant easaly get to an end.  Can it be removed?  It it broken?  Should I contact laCie?

TIA

Re: LaCie Blue III

Definitely take it back.  If I had to guess, I'd say that there is some grounding problem that's causing current to get to the outside of the screen and it's probably interfering with the coating.  It'll probably just get worse.

On a side note, I wish there were a feature that I could turn on to bug-zap greasy fingers, because I too hate finger prints.  My boss at work seems to think it's perfectly normal and helpful to touch the screen and point to areas that he'd likek to change.  It makes me crazy!

Re: LaCie Blue III

Whoo Hoo!  Just an update:
It has been shipped back and they are sending me a new Blue IV!  What's the difference between the B3 & B4?  Thanks for the help!
