Where can I find an Extension description list

Dont ge me wrong programs like conflict catcher & extension overload have their place, but not in a supercharged mac... the whole point of me wanting to get an extension description is to see whether I can yank it out or not.. the last thing I need is another extension added...
So Is there any place I can get a database or list of extension descriptions?!?!!?
I like the way conflict catcher gives a nice detailed review over extensions in question.. but I dont need anyone (or program) to hold my hand while I turn it off...

Re: Where can I find an Extension description list

I think you've answered your own question.... Other than the two apps you mentioned, I know of no other that gives a comprehensive listing of extensions (and control panels).  These extensions are made from different sources, so at least two companies have decided to make a buck by tracking down and providing a list.  If you find an extension that you still can't identify; even by its "maker discription" maybe you can write the author of Extension Overload; at least that's what I'd do.

Update:   I just did a Google search of "Mac Extension Database"  Want'a know what came up first?... http://www.extensionoverload.com/  They seem to have a database listed alphabetically.

Re: Where can I find an Extension description list

The only other real option I see that you'd have is to use your Extentions Manager and have it seperate the way I do, by the heading "Package".  That way when you scroll down the list you can see what came with the OS and what came with other software you installed.  There usually is a description available when you highlight the extention you're looking at, but if not, you will still have a general idea from seeing what it's associated with.

A walker with style.
