I hate people who think its funny I use a Mac. I hate even more the people who make a small crack about Macs when I say I use them.
We've all been there; your in a conversation, computers come up and you say something to the effect "oh well I use a Mac and..."
Then they say some bullsmurf like "Oh a mac? I'm sorry..." or "oh well, Windows is much better"
And I'm like "Eat my ass smurf."
Anyways what kind of smurf have people said to you when they found out you use a mac?
You know the hole, the one you put the pie in?
My mean my pie-hole?
Yeah, shut it.

Re:
Yeah, I know what you mean.
Last year I attended the Star Wars Celebration II in Indianapolis. The head CGI guy at LucasFilm was there and he had a Q&A and show-n-tell session. He was using a 15" PowerBook for his entire presentation, including demoing some CGI from the (at the time) unreleased AOTC movie. It was pretty neat. But there were two guys sitting behind me dissing the Mac with the usual misconceptions when they saw the guy using the Mac up front. I wanted to turn around and say STFU, but I didn't. They went off on Macs between themselves for a good five to ten minutes.
I'd also add that I've generally not had anyone respond thinking I'm funny for using a Mac, but they do like to make some small cracks about it.

Dr. McCoy: "And the good news is they're not going to prosecute."

Re:
We have the guy who does all the PC troubleshooting and such here at work. I hardly go a day without hearing some brain-dead comment about "nice toy" or "other 95% of the computer market" etc...
One of these times I'm going to point out that while PC support is his sole duty with the company, since I need about 5 minuts a month for Mac troubleshooting, they put me on Graphics too...
Am I rambling?

Re:
one kid at my school said, when he first heard i used a mac, "o, sorry, i'll bet your iMac is broken right now. iMac makes horrible computers." first, he thinks all macs are imacs and that there is an imac corporation. what an ignorant dumbass! he constantly makes cracks about imacs or "imac & co." in latin, my teacher was saying his printer wasn't working and the someone said prices in decent printers have gone down and he says, "whatever you do, don't buy anything macintosh." and i was like wtf, apple doesn't even make printers anymore!

Re:
I always get the typical "Macs are the worst computers in the world" or some response like that....
the average crowd that owns their major brand pc's are usually quite ignorant about macs and think that their dell is the coolest thing ever, I may be entirely wrong, but that's how it is where I live...
i just don't care how they feel anymore....

I was on a G3 running OS 8 and I had an argument with this guy at school today.

the other day i had to type up an assignment for my Chemistry class, but i needed a new USB cable for my printer, so I told my teacher and he said, "Well can you save it to a disk?"
So I said "Well, I use Mac"
he snickered and said "Well, you better get it in somehow."

Same here, theres no point. But yeah, i often get the normal weird looks and the dumb questions when i'm seen with a Mac. Pisses me off, but oh well. I once had a friend who told me that all Macs suck except for iMacs. I tried to tell him that an iMac is a normal Mac, but he didn't listen. Gah. And then there's this other guy who says that Macs sucks, and that Apple should burn in Hell, yet he uses QuickTime on a regular basis, saying how cool it is.....

Re:
I was at Radio Shack looking for a S/PDIF cable to sync my M-Audio cards together... I told the sales person I saw one there a couple months ago, And asked if he could look it up for me.
he asked, "Whats it for?"
I told him it was for digital audio. "Digital Coax" Connections.
After 15 min. He asked what kind of computer, So I said it doesn't matter, because it was simply for S/PDIF connections. I'm using a G4 Mac though...
He said "OH, We probably don't have it. Because Macs use weird cables."
I said it's the same cable a PC needs for S/PDIF.
He didn't believe me.

Re:
Just a little story to make you all feel better.
I was teaching PC repair at a small tech school(ya ya ya it's a job ok). The whole class installed Windows 2000 on some Compaq PCs. In just 30 min. Every one of those PCs was infected with a virus. My students did not use email, download anything etc...
30 min. A virus ran the network and boom. Class was over.
So when someone talks bad about your Mac. Just ask them if there anti-virus software is up to date.

Re:
I actually had a civil conversation with this guy on my floor about macs/PCs, it was more or less me giving a small history lesson about how apple smurfed up in the early 90s and that why they don't have the market share they should but he actually listened to points I was making about why Macs are better without arguing or marginalizing it. ~It was weird.

Re:
Most people usually shut up once I tell them I make a lot more money repairing Windows machines then I do repairing Macs.
Or they shut up if I tell them I "use Mac OS X or Linux"... there's just something about saying "linux," most people don't understand what linux is... so they figure you know a hell of a lot more about computers then they do (which is usually correct).
But, on the other hand, I'm a graphic / web designer in SF. In most of my grad classes you're condemned for using a Wintel box. It's a nice environment to be in

Re:
My ex hooked up with some dude who was like a windows developer and he was like "Macs are rubbish, they're toys, windows are better". I asked him had he ever used one and of course he had'nt. So I asked him how he could comment on something he had never used? he said that he just knew they were. I explained that Mac OS X is based on UNIX and also open source whereas Microsoft is based on DOS and Microsoft hoards its code like the evil overfiend it is. Dude still was'nt convinced so I just left it. Last month Dude got convicted of assaulting my ex and now he's in prison, I think thats an important statement on Windows developers.
