classic won't recognize my 10.2
My subject line pretty much sums it up. Classic recognizes that i have a hard drive in my computer when i use apple system profiler but it doesn't show up on my desktop despite the fact that it is formatted and has OS 10.2 installed on it (10.2.3 to be exact) I am running 9.2.2 for classic. This wouldn't be a problem except that I am trying to use classic to circumvent all of the rights issues involved with backing up files from one OS X partition to another.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

Re: classic won't recognize my 10.2
try running software update for 9.2.2. I'd bet that there'll be an update for the startup disk control panel. Although it's possible that 10.2 introduced some problems with Classic. I got rid of Classic at the end of 10.1.x.
Make sure that your Classic system is up to date.

Re: classic won't recognize my 10.2
What is your 10.2.3 partitioned formatted as? HFS+ or UFS?
For the rights issue, you can always use Dantz's Retrospect Express or I've heard that people have had success with Carbon Copy Cloner or CCC. I recommend Retrospect Express personally, because you should have a good backup program anyway.

Re: classic won't recognize my 10.2
OS X is partitioned with HFS+ and i've run software update in classic so it should be up to date. I was thinking the same thing that 10.2 was unsupported by 9.2.2 but I haven't been able to find anything on the internet about that and it seemed a little a strange that no one else seemed to think it was a problem.

I think the reason you can't mount it is you didn't install the Mac OS 9 drivers when you formatted it. I don't know if there is a way install them after you've formatted the drive.
