Howdy folks. Well, some of you may know that I've somehow managed to lose my JK2 CD. I have the manual, the jewelcase (no box, though...I threw that out)...but no CD. It's somehow vanished.

I even tried downloading a "no-CD" patch, but that only works with single player. (I don't encourage this sort of thing, but I was desperate, and since I actually own the game, I didn't think it was unethical).

So, until I get some extra funds to re-purchase JK2, or I find my CD, I won't be active in the division. At least, not on the server.

I know there are several newer members who probably haven't ever seen me on the server...but I'm here! (And I'm the guy to send server funds to, also...but that's another story).

Just wanted to fill everyone in. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer, but who knows? shrug

I have a way to get JK2 to work without the CD, but is it okay to use it? Is it legal if you own the game (I do)?

I would imagine that there's nothing illegal about using a no-CD patch for your legally-installed and legally-owned game. I would think that the only activity that would be illegal would be distributing that patch to others.

(side note #1: 3000th post! Yay!)

(side note #2: feel free to PM me with any info you could provide on the source of the file you mentioned. I could use it, and I'd much appreciate it!) wink

I've been wondering about this too cause I want to run JKII over LAN here at my house but putting it in a dmg didnt work. So i'd like to know too big_smile .

Yeah, man. Never seen you on there. Hope it won't be too long, though... I plan on sending a payment in one lump sum after a few of my eBay auctions get finished, sorry that it's not made it's way to you guys yet.

Tip:

The no CD toast file works for MP... but you have to lock the file before you mount it in Toast.

I helped bio unit with this for his mod testing.

Thanks to all for the help. I was finally able to get the toast image mounted, but I had to use Toast 6 (anything earlier would error out).

YOU TOO???!?!?!?!??!!!?!?! I just took my JK2 CD out earlier just to install and play Planescape Torment, and it was in there *No joke* for 2 weeks! I almost forgot what the thing looked like!

Tip:

The no CD toast file works for MP... but you have to lock the file before you mount it in Toast.

how do you "lock" it?

Select the "Jedi Academy Disc 1.toast" file in the finder, get info on the file (command-i). You should see a checkbox that says "locked". Check it on to lock it and close the info box.

Now you can mount it and it the game should play.

Note: this will NOT work for a .dmg only a .toast file.

E-mail Aspyr support and they'll help you out. This is generally the thing to do when you lose a CD.

I just like to be able to play games on my powerbook without carrying around all my cds. shrug

I also like to have a backup of what I buy. But, I absolutely do NOT distribute the images on warez sites. I feel Mac users must buy these games so companies will continue to produce them for us.

You need a copy of ToastTitanium (or otherwise) to make a .toast file from a .dmg.

I have ToastTi, so I just use Apple's disk image software to make a image, then open the image in toast ti. Ok thanks Phy
