Put a tissue between the headphone and your ear - you'll be fine.
If they can't see you, they won't bite your ear off. The tissue paper keeps them docile.

Re: Education discount at the apple store
My sources tell me that you can only get the student discount on hardware at the apple store. Lauren was able to get a 12 inch pb at the apple store with a student discount, but they wouldn't let her buy Appleworks at the student price. HOWEVER, I remember not being able to get the student price when I bought my 12 inch pb back in february. It could depend on the store. Go and find out or call them.
The online apple store does has discounts for software. There are not many, but the ones I've seen would be usefull. Unless it is software made by apple, check out the website of the company to see if you can find an 'educational reseller'. The Adobe CS Premium for only $368, sweet deal!

Re: Education discount at the apple store
It's the policy of all Apple stores to only honor education discounts on hardware. If you want Panther for $69, you have to order through the Apple Store for Education or head by your campus computer store and grab one there. Of course, Apple has a fun habit of releasing their software on the weekends, when my campus store is closed, so I order via website rather than fight for one of the 10 copies they'll have.

You have to tell them what college/university you go to.

Re: Education discount at the apple store
I find that after taxes, I'm often better off just purchasing hardware in a bundle deal from MacMall or the like than getting Apple's discount. Make sure to do the maths first.

Re: Education discount at the apple store
I ordered mine online, but so many people here have asked the question I finally got tired of it and called 1-800-MY-APPLE for the answer to this one.
The definitive answer: Maybe.
If you have a student ID you SHOULD be able to get your discount in person at an Apple Store. However, due to policy differences from store to store, they may not honor discounts at all stores.
Their best advise was to call your specific Apple Store before going in to confirm if you can get your discount or not.
They're always happy, eager, desperate to take your order on the phone, though - I mentioned early on in the call that I'd already ordered online and he STILL tried to get me to buy another copy.

Last time I tried to go in the store @ use my edu discount it didn't work. They offered to guide me through an internet purchase though.
Yeah, MN rocks! I go to North Central University in Minneapolis but my family lives in St. Paul.
How does the southdale apple store compare to the MOA one?
Its sweet, except for the part about it sucking.

Re: Education discount at the apple store
southdale is smaller doesn't have a theater. probably about half the size of the moa store. doesn't have the aisles in the center at all. but it's closest for me.

So I take it you don't actually live in St. Paul, but in a burb around it
Huh... I wonder why they even made the southdale store, seems kind of pointless, but I guess there is a bit of mac users in MN.
