No speakers on the little PowerBook?
I think I want one but I'm going to wait for FireWire 800.
There are no speakers, right?
That's insane. I've never heard of a Mac without speakers.

Musically inclined?
You?ll be glad to hear that the new 12-inch PowerBook G4 features built-in stereo speakers with an enhanced midrange third speaker, stereo headphone output jack, stereo line-in and an internal microphone.

Re: No speakers on the little PowerBook?
I would also rather it have BlueTooth built-in and not not have it as an option. Can you say BlueTooth Apple headphones? I knew you could

Ah.
I thought that because a) they aren't visible and b) it said this on the tech specs page:
Two built-in stereo speakers (15-inch and 17-inch models)
I didn't notice that it said this right above it:
Built-in stereo speakers with midrange-enhancing third speaker (12-inch model)
Duhh.

I tried but I ended up choking on my own saliva and fainting.
That sucks. I thought BlueTooth was built in.
Guess I'll be waiting for BlueTooth AND FireWire 800.
Oh yeah, and also money.

Re: No speakers on the little PowerBook?
Try reading people....
"Bluetooth, built-in to the new 12-inch PowerBook G4 model, connects..."
That was about 1/3 of the way down the linked page ... under the heading and a graphic called Bluetooth.
Geez....
"What, no speakers!!" "No, Bluetooth!!!"
Hey guess what, it doesn't come with any installed memory either
(the above line is a lie ... did you read this line?)

first of all, suck on something dumb.
secondly, i DID read but i read the tech specs which is less clear than the rest of the page because everything is side by side leading to my human error.
see, because i'm a human being and sometimes, even if i try to do something, i still muck it up. this is not a result of an inability to read but of reading one piece of information and mistaking it for another.
mistakes happen to machines, animals, with pregnancies, and everything else on the whole goddamned planet. Why? Because that's how it is.
Lastly,
suck on a bag of hair again.

Re: No speakers on the little PowerBook?
I'm not a fan of the iBook design, I prefer the powerbook look much more, and at least they dumped the titanium gimmick and went with "last years material" which at least holds paint.

Re: No speakers on the little PowerBook?
Back on that speaker thing... I hope that the 3rd speaker helps with the audio, because the 15" TiBook sounds uncannily like a clock radio. I know, I know, it's just a portable. I'm just pointing it out is all.

I think you have a skewed perception of being helpful.
Had you provided the information in a polite or even humorous manner, I would be thankful. But you provided it in a condescending way, even after I explained why I made the first mistake.
I think that is the fine line between being helpful and being a jerk and you CROSSED IT. YOU CROSSED IT, MISTER.

Wouldn't bluetooth headphones suck? I mean, audio transfer over Bluetooth would be really low quality. What's so difficult about plugging headphones in? It's not as though Bluetooth would let you go that far away from your computer.

how fast is bluetooth ?
Also some phones have bluetooth headsets, so I would think that it would be very possible.

Re: No speakers on the little PowerBook?
Alright so I choked on the bluetooth built in but that specs page is a pain. Maybe putting what everybody uses to name the machine like screen size at the top and the order number at the bottom huh maybe. Oh and maybe more than two hours of sleep.....

i can't seem to find anything that indicates whether or not the 12" model has a pc card slot. i'd really like a card slot.

no, that's not "true" DDR because the G4 is like a traffic jam. it can only utilize 1.3GB/s bandwidth which is the same as SDRAM, so it's a waste, unlike PCs that have 2X or 4X the memory bandwidth.
FYI the "superdrive" is only 1X, which means to encode and burn a DVD from iMovie to iDVD will take you at least 6 hours or more.
but hey, no paint flakes.
